You're quite right, it shouldn't have happened in the first place but that's what happens when you have disrespectful ball bags with a bit of authority. Ironically the hero in question and his comrades fought with some giving the ultimate sacrifice so we could have the freedoms we have today which also include the authorities having the freedom to bring in rules like those ID regs.
