sowhat 1,572
Milly whip/grey x whippet /bedlington How is milly coming on geoff has have you started her yet? what is her temperament like? Temperament wise, she's very obedient, very wary of strangers and vocal towards them. She's very loving & eager to please, but she gets a bit over excited when she knows she's going out for her daily mooch. Basically we only bred her just for a little bit of mooching ,nothing too serious. She has an excellent prey drive, and a good nose on her, but sadly ,we do most of our walking in a wooded area, and just recently she's started opening up a little. To be absolutely honest John it doesn't bother me, now if I was going somewhere I shouldn't, maybe it would be a problem. But over all, her good points outweigh her bad points, and she does everything I ask, and it gives me a lot of pleasure to watch her doing what I bred her for. Her litter brother Fen, owned by Terrierman Sam on here is doing really well too ,he's over the moon with him 2 Quote Link to post

sowhat 1,572
Forgot to add, our Grand Daughters favourite party trick, is playing the mouth organ, and Milly sings along to it, and when I say sing, I mean "the hound of the Baskervilles" infact, the mouth organ has now been hidden Thinking about taking them along to "Britains got talent" next year 3 Quote Link to post
darbo 4,776
thanks for the reply geoff sounds like you are pleased with her. running in woodland can be frustrating for dogs i have seen myself a few open up over the years and quite a few different crosses.if she ticks the boxes for you thats all that matters. i have a soft spot for beddy crosses my old mate had them for 30 years.good luck for the future with her. nice to read terriermans sams dog is doing well.atb. 1 Quote Link to post
whipbed 42
got a 1st cross 15 months old got him because my mate and i have terriers and wanted something faster ,which he is! i don,t have any experience of 3/4 crosses but the general opinion appears to favour them. i notice that size is an issue for you which it was for me and my dog is 20 inches and fits in my vehicle with the terriers ok i dont have problems training my dog but have heard of some folk who have with the 1st cross he has certainly been easier than the terriers but perhaps not as easy as a straight whippet. if you are used to terriers then i wouldn,t imagine you have problems either. as already stated do as much research as you can. atb 1 Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
My old Whippet x Bedlington Bitch always ran silent, apart from chasing in a wood, where she would give a few yips, but not a scream, never bothered me, and took a serious amount of Rabbits and Pheasant with this Bitch. She ran this way till she died at nine. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
if your running land thats tight fields i would go 3/4 i run a 3/4 but have run first x to i find the the first cross can lack gears and let the dog down on the lamp but mine is 22 tts so not really small works day and night very fast up on to them and goes through its gears on hedges can burst on to its rabbit but as a general mooching dog a first cross can be good fun hope you think about the land you want the dog to run as it is down to you as well as the dog.atb I've seen this dog of troter58s this morning in the flesh. Fine looking animal and troter58 is a top bloke. My dog is 3/4 grey 1/4 Beddy and is the exact double of his dog just taller. Feet, tail, head, body all the same stamp. Her litter brother Fen, owned by Terrierman Sam on here is doing really well too ,he's over the moon with him I can double the majority of that Geoff. I couldn't be happier with him and would definitely recommend others to have one. Before the whippet was pts, we had 3 dogs in the house and people thought we were mad until they came round. You wouldn't even know that we had one dog in the house let alone 3. As Geoff said, very vocal if he hears something during the night which is great. He has a great prey drive and picked up lamping really quickly with a great catch rate. We'd definitely have another beddy cross and I don't think you could go wrong with one, Moorside Good luck and put a pick up when you get her mate ATB Sam 1 Quote Link to post
