Unfortunately there will be no show in Clondulane this year. The Parents Association of the school have voted not to back the show and without them there's no funding, no site and no workers on the day.I don't understand why as the show has always been profitable making €6500 last year even with the bad weather and in all it's guises over the last six years has raised just short of €40,000 for the school.I have tried to get support from the local community but apart from one or two people nobody has any interest in the show.
Personally for me it's a huge slap in the face as I had a lot of work put in and lots of stuff planned to expand the show this year.I would like to thank everyone who has supported the show over the years and I like to think we did an OK job of running it.

Thanks for the kind words but sadly I can't see any change of heart coming from them and even if they did a show of this size can't be turned around in a short space of time.
The two biggest obstacles in running the show for me have been one I was the only person who was into working dogs so every time you wanted to add an event or class you had to explain it in detail because nobody knew what you were talking about. The second being that despite having over 40 odd years hunting behind me I've always kept myself to myself so nobody in the hunting world has a clue who I am and so I found it impossible to get any real sponsorship. Last year we had over 800 dogs enter the various classes which says to me that the show was going in the right direction and deserves a place on the show calender.

Running the show has been a hugely rewarding experience for me, I've met and been helped by a lot of great people many of whom are members on here.
I think that with the amount of top class dog people and clubs in the Cork area there is room and a need for a show of this size in the region and I would love to see a hunt or club or someone of the other shows step up and fill the void left behind by the demise of Clondulane, but you'd need someone better known and more respected in the game then me to run it.

I was at the show last year and a massive crowd at it. And a great show

j if you had 800 dogs enter your show last year you should be well respected don't be hard on yourself its obvious you ran a decent show try and get involved with some club and run it for them or for a good charity

thats a real pity it was getting better every year , now having had the experince of dealing with a commitee at the lisgoold show who panicked after a few complaints when R Booth was to judge the terriers .Would a letter in the avonduh by a well known anti shortly after last years show cause the commitee to take this stance ,if so its a shame , i have not heard a thing from anyone its just me being a suspicous f**ker ?

I am so sorry to hear that you are not having a show this year. I really enjoyed your show the last 2 years, it was getting better every year. You should try and do a dog show without a commitee, alot of people would go to a show you were organising.

Thanks lads, I'm not complaining about being unknown, I'm very happy living my life under the radar so to speak it just makes running a show extra hard and as ye all know that's hard enough.
dmick the antis were already on the committee and with my son having moved on to secondary school they didn't invite me to the meeting and with the school extension paid for they took their opportunity to shut the show down.

This year is a bust for me now so I'm going to attend and enjoy as many shows as I can and if I'm still above ground next year we'll see what'll happen.

As Km says, JS, dont be so hard on yourself. You have done Sterling work for that school, and for future generations of children in the area, parish and sourounding countryside to enjoy and benefit from.At the same time you gave many of our Canine people and their families a lot of enjoyment at your shows .To me that speaks for itself. No explanation needed. And as Source says also, you should get a few of your mates together and run a show of your own.If you are up North at any of our Shows or Game Fairs or at any shows I am at in the South, come up and say hello. Cheers for now.
