Lamped hare, daytime hare...difference?..f**k all apart from ones ran in daylight the other gets ran in the dark lol..if it gets caught its dying..same end result?.....back in the day of the late 80's

I find they taste the same as daytime hares.

ive ran hares on the lamp i think if there run regular you get some excellent sport ,i dont think its for failed daytime dogs ,yes they do make the odd mistakes but all lamped quarry does , they can

matt the rat.i remember it well it was 1980 when the keeper from liscombe park came to see me .he wanted to have a parly he was a bit depressed someone was cutting thru his pheashants stocks like a knife thru butter he was loseing sometimes 60 birds in a night.air rifle i believe .he had been told of the deal me and the late colin stone woburn keeper had come to .any way we talked terms i could come on the estate course hares rabitts but nothing else .ok i said .then he said but i will have to be with you at all times oh no i said my word is my bond i cant do that .anyway i said no hard feeelings come and look at my latest breeding there they were charlie the dad and several of his progeny .i talked to him proudly about titan big brindle deeerhound lurcherxgsd x g.high hopes i had for him very fast as good as a fast greyhound best dog for speed i had ever bred .couple days later went out to my big dog pen titan was laying there nearly dead died in my arms poisoined.charlie his dad was foaming at the mouth stagerring around like he was drunk he survived.of course the keeper had to reap whaht he had sown later on.

You've lost me.

What have your poaching exploits got to do with lamping hares?

All very interesting, but please try and stay on topic rather than using this as a way of promoting your own past deeds.

low plains drifter.netting is the answer better than being blown to bits by a twelve bore

'Blown to bits'?

That's a very emotive way of describing some shot hares.

It's a bit like shooters saying 'Torn to bits' when talking about dogged hares.

Neither is a correct description, nor do they do anything to help.

matt therat.i apologise for my previous comment i should not get so heated sorry.i have seen some hares badly mangled by shotgun blasts and i have seen some hares when coursed by dogs badly strecthed and torn .im not saying all hares are blown to bits that is just a exspression of feeling.up my way we do have a fair few pikeys driveing up and down fields in fourwheel drives courseing milky hares out of season.i saw one last week at ledburn going up and down a ploughed field on a quad.

Agree with you there matt, think it's an easy thing for a coursing enthusiast to become sentimental over hares, very natural predator/prey fieldsport, survival of the fittest, sometimes not just for the hare either atb

Ah reckon Matt the Rat needs to chill out a bit...blackgreyhound is a strange one I'll admit and does get a bit emotive...life's tapestry and all that...but he makes some good points...there's far worse misdeeds spoken of on here folk could be taken to task on...what's wrong with the man recounting past poaching tales/exploits - can't see the harm in it personally - we must all have tales to tell and plenty have told them on here in the past?!?!? And as for folk staying 'on topic' jesus Matt the Rat you're having laugh...:laugh::laugh:
