Australian cattle dogs are rarely used for cattle work in Australia anymore and what would be the point of using them in a lurcher cross . No running dogs in Australia are based on cattle dog blood. The last thing you need is a lurcher that will bite someone.

i had Australian cattledog x greyhound very good worker natural hunter but very much a one man dog very loyal put not very social able with people or dogs but that was ok by me

bad thing could be a little head strong and did not like to re pete a task too often so unlike collie there i thought she was great and if like me you hunt a lone there worth thinking about but if you like hunting with your mates and there dogs watch out if there all like the one i had they don't give much warning and its bang on the other dogs throat

hope that help mate

Brother Fox,I do not know where you got that info from but way off the track!!!!We still use heelers all the time.

We have two Breeds one the longtailed Heeler and the Stumpy tailed Heeler.The fair dinkum Heeler is tough,Tenacious and smart.The Dogs we use come from lines that go well back and have never and will never see a Show ring!!!!{Thank God for that}

Heelers have been used crossed with Bull Terriers,danes,Staffys,Greyhounds and others.One exceptional Dog belonging to a Mate was a Bulldog- heeler x.Top dog would work Sheep,cattle,guard and catch a Pig.

I have seen Heeler Greyhound crosses and were handy dogs.The Heeler brought stamina,brains and toughness to the cross. Tony
