Stocka 1
I just read on another forum that a bloke had the same issue as you and his clutch went but it was a older model to yours. So maybe your mechanic is right hope you get it sorted mate and it doesn't cost the earth to fix. I'm a ford fan myself so don't no too much about vauxhall

dodger 2,765
Well, was it the clutch?ATB they put the van on the ramp, had a good look at it n apart from a baring that needs doing on the back wheel he couldn't find anything mate,he said all he can think of is it needs a new right front tire n check the balancing,I went n got that sorted n nothing had changed n so I then went back to the garage,he double checked n still couldn't find anything,I said there's got to be summet up for it to be vibratin like that,he agreed but said don't worry just keep drivin it n come back in a couple of weeks see if I can see Sumet then,so I've done all I can for now mate n still non the wiser it's proper weird, cheers Edited April 14, 2013 by dodger
dodger 2,765
Found out today it's the gearbox lads so at least I know now, cheers
bear-uk 17
Wheels out of balance. It happens at certain speeds depending off severity of imbalance. Yours probably is at the speed when you change gears (3/4). You can drive through the wobbling speed if its only minor. There you are, I said it was the gearbox

Giro 2,648
Mate i have a 2007 van.. You wont need a gear box, its a bearing in the box.. I thought at first it was a wheel bearing with the noise. Not many folk work on them, I drove from cumbria to bradford to get its fixed. It cost £450 with six moth warrenty or re furbed gear box £800 12 months warrenty . Its common fault on that box.. Check VX forums etc.. Gear box on ebay will be kicking on a grand and it still might f**k up.. This was company I used, took a full day to fix.. I just took my mrs and went shopping, cinema and a curry lol.. http://www.cleckheaton-gearbox-centre.co.uk/4x4-specialists.html They wont do you.. Told me if they could fix they would or it would be a new one.. Mines sweet now.. You could run it for years but if it goes its defo a new box. mine made noise in first and secound and when running gear stick used to move a bit, sort of floating.. I would not touch another VX after this Escort vans were bullet proof.. Chekheaton was the cheapest by a long way nearest quote was for bearing was £825 plus vat
