Springer Groups At 50 Yards

Recommended Posts

no not really mate but if you get a rabbit sitting tight at say 20-30 yrds a aim for the bottom of the head ie jaw line ive never been one for body shots dont like it and its not fair on the rabbit if you miss and just laim them nothing worse to see it hobble away atb mark

There are members on here that have seen me shoot and kill with one shot yes 1 shot at over 50yrds who will vouch for me

I had a webley Exocet .22 and I've now got a hw77k .22 in which I have no propblem with long rang why would I make it up.

With the extra weight on the "springer" or and recoil to deal with over the pcp,s I myself and thousands of spring gun users would

say there is lots more skill needed to shoot at distance with springer guns we could also say some pcp people must of tried and failed big time with with them ? Just you all seem to disbelieve any thing we wright on here

It has a touch of jealousy about it

why would anyone want to do springer groups out to 50yrds,not like anyone would shoot that distance in the field ???,but all to their own i suppose

Why would some one be questioned after posting and hunting with People on here for a long time and make things up cos then you would be lying to your friends and been full of shit ??????

Or is it that your the best hunter in the world and your always wright and just after 14 posts ?????

What's the range for your pee shooter like ten yards at paper

Someone as been reading the airgun magazines and not getting out and actually seeing whats achievable with real practice, bless them.

Mind ya I have to say I don't like to ever shoot past 35 yards with my springer. I wouldn't even attempt 50 yards ever :blink::icon_eek::laugh:

sorry guys if my post upset you all but thats just my personel opinion,i do not try to shoot live quarry any further than 40yrds but thats me and the way i do it,,some of us have respect for the quarry we shoot

but as said thats just the way i do it,,

also dont understand what the childish rants are for ???

listening to some of the daft comments aimed at myself,,is it any wonder air rifle owners get a bad name, as said i never said anything could not be done , its just i dont do it and certainly not with a springer

You can only shoot to what you are capable of and no more. Some of us are blessed with a natural talent for long range/all range shooting and some of us are not. We all of us have to work hard, train hard and practice hard to shoot easy!...

There's no shame in not being able to hit a rabbit clean beyond 30 metres. There's another disgraceful matter when an animal is seriously injured and made to suffer for an idiot shooting beyond his ability. That's not shooting, that's bloody dumb incompetence and cruelty. No other way to say it!

Set a 2-pence size target disc at 40 metres. If you cannot group ten rounds into it, clean of the sides, you aren't up to that range! Practice till you can ...When you can do it with ease. Try it out to 50...

Or keep it real and shoot within your limits!

This is getting out of hand with insults cropping up Gentlemen. Common sense should be the order of the day. A quality, well sorted Weihrauch or Air Arms springer will breeze a 50-plus metre range target. 20+ rounds grouped into a penny-sized target at 55 is well-possible with these rifles If you put the practice in. All it takes is dedication to your shooting, know who you are and what you are capable of and be totally honest with yourself and you ability. Then work hard to improve yourself with all the dedicated practice you can put in.

What else can we do?

a guy of another forum took me to his shoot and happily put 5 shots in a 20p group with a legal limit HW80.. in a wind lol.

and why would you want to? because it developes a much better skill leval at the lesser ranges, also lets you know when your scope is proper on line etc, and of course thres hft..those bunnies and birds that know...etc

lolol.. quite a few reasons.

well said simon.

of om not confident i wont take a shot.

on monday i could only just manage 2p groups at 15-20 yards with bisley magnums in the hw95k. because of the blustery wind. i packed it away and went home without shooting anything else!!

i cant agree more with Pianoman, well said my friend,

i use my air rifle at least 5 days a week , 3 of these day are out in the field on targets and two of them at least are on live quarry, yes granted with a springer you can have fantastic groups at 50 yrds and yes you can make clean kills at the same distance and over but it is just my personal preferance not to shoot live quarry at these distances, what is my reason for this ?? its because at those sorts of distances there is more room for error what with wind etc.

i like to be as sure as i can at hitting the target exactly where i want to place the pellet , does this make me a bad or novice shooter , NO , also just because i have not long joined the forum and not posted 1,000,s of comments, does that make me a bad shot ?? NO. i was merely stating the distance i would shoot live quarry with a pcp or springer,

I have used all sorts of springers and pcp,s for over 40 years for hunting and yes times have changed, i now have a pcp and it is a pleasure to shoot but i also love the hw80, a fantastic rifle and very accurate also both these rifles are easily capable of killing quarry over 50yrds but IMO i dont do it,

As for practice i am always striving to improve my ability even after 40 yrs of using air rifles for hunting but one thing is for sure i know what me and my rifles and pellets are more than capable of yes i can get amazing groups out to 55yrds but i still wont shoot live quarry over 40 but as said that is just the way i work,

i am sorry if i offended anyone because that was NOT what i intended to do, also can i also say ,,i have NEVER bought an air rifle magazine in my life so the other comment that was aimed at me is also wrong,

I enjoy Air rifle hunting and pest control be it day or night and i also enjoy rough shooting with the shotguns and i always put my intended quarry FIRST and FOREMOST ,

all the best EH

i couldnt even keep the rifle on target if i held it with all my strength lol thats how bad the wind was.. this was trying to squeese off the trigger in between blusts of the wind!!

normally i would get every shot on the bulll at 20 yards, not bragging just saying 20yards is no challenge
