lapin2008.i totally agree. i am 59 years old this year my father owned lurchers and i have owned them since 15yrs of age .my friend graham who owns mal has had dogs since 1978.lots of people on here do not have 44years of dog exspirience.i know for a fact that if i said to some of these so called dog men right leighton buzzard across to woburn 7 miles rough ploughing etc carrying all of the catch back at top walking speed .some of them would be so far away they might as well stayed at home .thier dogs would be knackerd and i would be saying for fecks sake come on i have not got all night to wait for stragellers.graham is a true dog man .if that dog couldnt catch hares and do its other jobs he wouldnt give it kenell room.also those malxg are so strong and so hard they could not possibly blow up or wimp out it is not in thier nature to do so hundreds of years of selective breeding in the alaska wilderness .where it is survival of the fittest guarantees it.they have very thick coats very strong bone very thick pads and they are defenitely not softies and they are exstremely strong

Geoff - to be honest 44 years of dog experience means very little - I know some folk who have had many, many years experience in this game and you could write the wortwhile stuff they know on the back of a postage stamp...and on the other hand I know some lads who've had one or two dogs and a handfull of years in the lurcher game and they're pretty well clued up, and well worth listening to and know their stuff...one of the biggest idiots I know had had running dogs for over 50 years and wouldn't know a good dog if it bit his arse...

Thats fine as stated if it suits you then great. What I cannot understand is your constant need for approval from your peers? If you chose it for the above reasons, then fair enough, why do you feel t

Just because its a malx doesnt make it immune to failure lol. and stating categorically the above is a little rose tinted in my view   But... Having a dog that looks like that looking out of the

Well said borderscot good dogmen are few and far between old and young. But a ssurefire way to tell if one is bluffing it is if they start reeljng off how a certain type is the bee all and end all of lurchers. Kennel blindness is narrow mindness and narrow minded folk never learn. I started with deerhoundy types but grew o love colliexs. I don't try and ram them down anybodys throat tho an swear they never fail or are the best. I still learn from everydog and iv been at this game a while

are you a dog man? My dog is what he is, big, heavy but he does ok. I've been off here for a while and there's a few new name so I thought I'd share some pics because he is different. Have you seen this x work because you seem to know a lot about them? ATB

it doesnt look like a running dog which must surely be an advantage in certain areas but what im curious about it looks like it wouldnt half chow down a lot of feed... are these crosses capable of catching enough to feed themselves and their owners?

yeah he eats well and is fed the best. He keeps my family well fed to.ATB

If it fills the pot then i wish you all the best with it, this cross isnt for me though.

atb gem.

Any plans to breed to the 3/4, be interesting. Like I said not my taste but interesting.... There's a few breeds out there that I reckon might bring something to a lurcher (that I havent seen done) mostly american stock dog breeds and Airedale lines, australian Koolie and one or two of the european working herders. At least you've had the imagination to try something new, hope it works out for ya bud.

its not new, its been around 30 or 40 years to my knowledge

First one I've ever seen bud, so new to me anyhow, dont remember every 'loot' ad I ever read unfortunately. Lets just say at least he's had the imagination to try something unusual.

theres a new post on here every month

Well being fairly new on thl, its the first one Ive seen, seen a few siberian x's litters in the local press, cant say Ive ever seen either in the flesh.....this cross has a following then?????......well fook me....you live and learn
