fry 209
hi all a while back mawders was on about pellets in pro sports i said "daystate lis pellet on pellet in mine" he said pop up some pics! " i dont take pics of targets, but will next time i shoot which will be when i come back from thailand" was my reply. Well a week back whilst filling up my van with manure from one of my perms i noticed a fair amount of bunny activity down the hill, and thought next non freezing wet evening i will have a couple of them in the bag! 2 days later its a lovely day and i am on it like a tramp on a sandwich! set my target at 35 metres up the top, (in my defense it was windy). This was my first seven pellets i felt like that old woman off acorn antiques tray shaking, and this is only the second time i have shot this year due to various other commitments and foul weather! I thought jeez thats pretty bad maybe i am drying out from non stop boozing ect in thailand no way can i start shooting at rabbits like this! resisting the urge to start zeroing the scope i took a deep breath cracked a can of stella cidre and drank deep, with pianomans shooting a sprung rifle words going round in my head i settled down did the breathing thing and put ten pellets through my non squeaking v-mached beauty resulting in this! Remember its windy, its 177 and i think ok that will do lets get down there and bag a few, i go down the hill set up 32 metres from where i think they will appear from have another can and wait. Twenty minutes later out pops one and sits facing me, i wait for it to turn side on but it just sits there, i do the piano breath squeeze trigger and put a daystate between the eyes! not a twitch one down, i retrieve it just in case (doubting myself) its not dead but it is. I settle back down for another wait and 10 minutes in i hear a wheel barrow coming up the lane, glancing over my shoulder i see two young girls coming from the stables pushing it! their new here i think to myself as i pop the rabbit and empty can out of sight, well the wheel barrow and chatting noise stop directly behind me and the i hear running footsteps, look round and they have dumped the barrow and are now running flat out back towards the stables like they have seen jimmy savilles ghost! i think shit i hope this dont cause any grief with the owner and ponder whether to disappear. 5 minutes later the owner pulls up in his tractor laughing his head off(thank god) and says they shit them selves and said there is a man in camo with a gun laying in a field ! i pass the time of day with him and two giggling embarrassed girls come back pick up their barrow and go about their business. i breathe a sigh of relief that i aint lost one of my best perms and continue my wait. fifteen minutes bunny 2 appears, i do the piano squeeze thwack!¬! twitch! leg wave! clean kill. i am determined not to decimate this perm so packed up with just the pair happy days not seen a rabbit for a while. cheers all. 1 Quote Link to post

targa 5
Dampa mount? http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/thread/1328616326/last-1328806052/Is+dampa+mount+helpful- http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/mounts--rails-1-tube-mounts-%2811mm-38-dovetails%29-sportmatch-1-mounts/smdm60-sportsmatch-1-piece-double-screw-1-dampa-mount-50mm-%5Bdm60%5D.html Quote Link to post
fry 209
oh its just a one piece scope mount all solid. just thought why not no mag ect. Quote Link to post
targa 5
Well, that is what I wanted to say, its not a one piece mount as in "1 piece mount" "Rubber bushes help prevent scope damage by reducing the recoil transmitted to the scope." said the text in ramsbottoms link. Those rubber bushes makes it a dampa mount. In the past I had a couple dampa's in use on heavy recoil springers, to prevent scope damage, (HW80, HW90, Diana 48 etc) but they also made my shots less accurate. (more flyers too) If your Prosport is a <12ftlbs, there is absolute no reason to use a dampa. Better and more accurate with a one piece mount or double screw Hawke mounts, your scope can handle that little recoil. Edited April 10, 2013 by targa Quote Link to post
