From what I can see, and i remember bin bags piled high in the streets and blackouts, the unions and its members took the piss and got ironed out. Get over it......we lost docking along the Thames lo

So let me get this right......she single handedly closed the mines, closed the shop yards, got rid of the car industry, liberated the banks so they eventually could land us in the economical melt down

say what you like about her she was her own woman and stood by her convictions and something else about her she would never have given in to pressure like blair was and allowed the hunting ban to be p

You can tell the folk that wernt there at the time, work was everywere, you could walk from one job to the next even if you only wanted a change, and that was the late 70's, folk think that migrants are a new thing, but its old hat, the jobs that people did not want to do in this country late 70's, and said were beneath them were taken by pakistani's, the british said the corner shops were dead and sold them, but that was because they just did not want to do the hours it took to make them work, but the paks did, you get back what you put in, so if you put nothing in, thats all you get back.

All my schooling has taught me to identify a dictator by their traits, beliefs & actions. I never studied her policies as they were secondary to what I witnessed in the woman herself. She was an enigmatic leader for sure but one that put her principles above all else even when she knew they were to the detriment of the country; that's why she was ousted by her own party. If she did so much good for the country how come we're in such a mess today. For me she is up there with the very worst dictators in our short history.

Lads, in the interest of debate could we keep this thread civil and free from chucking insults at each other please? Be a shame for it to go the same way as the last one.. :( Thanks.

The problem back in the 70's is folk were doing ok, but wanted more, thats not a bad thing, but there is a ceiling on what any company can give its employees in wages and fringe benifits, if you ask to much, you simply will not get it, investers want their cut, if they dont get it, then the business wont get financed, so that in turn means no jobs, peaks and troughs, all businesses need new customers all the time, if they dont get them, then its the workforce that gets downsized first, so you now have the choice, to strike, or not? if you strike, the business loses more customers and thats detrimental to the businsess, which further compounds its finacial problems, and only ever results in hurting its workforce, and in all probability, your redundant, you make the choice, so pay the price.

Does it not make folk sit and scratch their cannister that this apparently " hated and despised " woman was not only voted in as many times as she was back then...............but even on this little " huntinglife good or bad poll " today theres virtually nothing in it :D

The fact a man can come out with the most severely nasty and hateful remarks he can muster up............is still only equal to one person who liked her !!

Funny how the truth often proves itself with no need for words.
