Thatcher Dies

Recommended Posts

Seems to me the labour conservative issue with our country is like a disfunctional family, youve got loads of kids with a mother (labour) who takes them on holiday, buy them treats new electronic gadgets, games TV's and the like but to do this she racks up loads of credit card bills and bank loans. The kids are happy then Dad (conservative) has to take over cause if not their going to get there house reposessed so he has to put a stop to all of these treats for a few years whilst he pays off all the debt. Eventually the kids get p*ssed off with dad cause hes no fun and they ask for mon to run the house again and the circle continues..... :big_boss:

If half the politicians now had her backbone this country wouldn't be the cesspit it is.

Boo all you want. R.I.P Margaret Thatcher. The second best P.M this country ever had. (After Churchill.)

High wages for doing little. Has your old man ever been down a pit. It's not like mixing scones ffs

what would you say her accomplishments has prime minister were gnash? .i personally believe she destroyed this country ,she changed the identity of great britain as it were .for ever .

I dont get into debates on subjects i dont know enough about and i really dont have a great knowledge or interest in politics Brookie........my simple point is the fact a grocers daughter reached the very highest level of her profession.............i admire that.

That said,do you think she left the country in a worse state than she found it then ?.......just out of interest like.

gnash i think she destroyed this country and its heritage .i firmly believe the countries like it is now because of what this woman did when she was in power

Think what the country was like before Thatcher, 3 day week, black outs, rubbish not collected.., Love or hate her she was firm in her beliefs and turned this country around economically plus she terrified what was left of the soviets and the rest of the world because they knew she'd push the button

Made Britain strong imo Labour came along and made us weak again  Now give UKIP a chance :victory:

RIP Maggie

yes she destroyed all the industry in this country .she sold all the family silver as well .privatisation brought about huge price increasing .she destroyed communities and didnt give two fucks .about kids around the country starving to near death .she dressed soldiers up as filth and gave them free hand to batter working class men standing up for theyre jobs theyre homes and theyre families .she destroyed the unions as well .the same unions that would have not allowed all these tens of thousands of foreigners into our country taking all the jobs .why do you think theres an acute housing shortage in this country today .maggie did nothing good for this country and dont kid yourself that she did . theres thousands of penshioners today and children sitting in theyre houses freezing cold because they cannot afford the heating thanks to her privatising the energy companies .the poll tax .i could go on and on .but we will agree on one thing and thats ukip next for me

Unions ie scargill and his like caused the strikes face it they had too much power, pulled the wool over the workers eyes and Maggie saw through them and broke them. Unfortunately the workers were hoodwinked into the war by union cronies and became casualties.

Agree the housing shortage today is an impact from mass immigration but you want to look to Labour for that one.

Gas was really cheap until early 2000's remember? Why because we had reserves in the North Sea which thanks to privatisation we had the money invested to source it.

The lack of money now can be traced straight to Labour - Blair and his cronies. The last Conservative government handed over a country wealthy, powerful economically (Financial capital of the world), the pension fund was overflowing, the gold reserves were at their highest recorded, we had subsidised energy, unemployment was on the fall, I could go on.

look pal she turned this country into the capitalist shit hole it is today .i dont know where you just got all that crap from .she was already planning on closing the pits .scargill wouldnt sit back and watch her do that .our industries were as productive as any in the world and our coal was of the best quality .you should visit the valleys in wales and see the knock on effect of her actions communities have been destroyed she did similar to the north east .apprenticeships done away with .she had no rights to privatise gas electricity . these commodities belonged to the people .not the tory party to take away .And turn into huge profit making machines for her cronies and ilk .she sold the working classes down the river like dogs whilst the bankers and politicians flourished.a lot of the problems we have now are a knock on effect of her actions .she ruined this country and you say when the tories handed over power we were the financial capital of the world .the pension fund was overflowing .subsidised energy and privatisation of the utilities enabled the finding of gas in the north sea and the ability to harvest it

can you now please produce on this thread the evidence of this and the figures .il help you with some . we were already having north sea gas in this country .unemployment was running in the millions by the time maggie left .how would you prove the pension fund was overflowing ? wheres it invested ? what account is it in ? the pension fund would look healthier then than it is today .there were only half the population then .where and when has energy been subsidised .? lastly how can you blame blair for the lack of money hes been gone years .maggies prodigal son CAMORON is giving billions away all over the world in foreign aid worthless investments abroad .wars .benefits to most of europe .home and abroad. maggie ruined this country . no industry = no jobs .=mass unemployment .i could go on as well .f**k maggie and her state funeral .she died in the ritz hotel .most pensioners in this country die neglected in nursing homes after working all theyre lives paying into this so called fund only to have theyre homes took to pay for this priviledge of dying either cold or neglected or both .thats another product of privatisation .i could go on as well .

The biggest problem with this country is peoples reliance on the government, which, totally suits labour, they either wanted you working for them or dependant on them (benefits) you only had to look at the public sector when new labour were in power. Someone said Thatcher allowed you to buy your house to control you, labours way to control you was to have you dependant on them and this was the trend Maggie sought to break where people could think for themselves.

You either loved her or you hated her. Just because her ideas weren't the same as some of yours, you have to admire a person with such conviction. I would certainly prefer to be remembered as a man of my convictions rather than some pussy who agreed with everyone else just to be popular

Totally agree...............as little as i know about politics it seems glaringly obvious to me Thatcher was the last politician we ever saw who was led by her own values and reacted to her own beliefs instead of just doing and saying whatever made them popular to get votes..............That should always stand for something.

Brookie, just a few points;

London is still the financial capital of the world.

The UK was giving billions in foreign aid before Cammeron and will continue to when he's gone.

She's not getting a state funeral and explicitly didn't want one.

Thatcher wanted the pits closed, why? One thing I've never understood about all this, if there's so much coal why isn't someone mining it now?

Your on a roll brookie

Never understand why people always need someone to blame  I come from a working class family and my old man did ok by us, was employed throughout the 80's and he always said fuuck the unions they'll take your money and give fec all but stress in return at least you pay the government and get healthcare security.

Unions caused the crap why on earth people fail to see this.... Ah maybe it's because pride will be hurt to admit that maybe they backed the wrong three legged horse and the unions rhetoric and sabre rattling wasn't the way to go about it.

As for the closures why would anyone want to close SUCCESSFUL industry down? I've dealt with several global mining companies, Arcelormital, Orica and even our very own local British coal all these companies have one thing in common if there's money in the ground they're digging it up no matter where it is, so why are these pits still closed? Why did Labour instead of creating thousands of worthlessss high paid jobs not reopen the pits using the money to nationlise them again?

we have a bakers shop,my dad is 47 and says she was the best thing that happened to this country.standing up to the miners and she stopped paying them their high wages for doing little, and she helped us buy our council house and helped small buisnesses also stood up to the argentinians

well tell yer dad he's a prick, sold council houses at less than market value which led to

slum landlords charging what ever they wanted which inturn led to house prices rocketing

which led to banks lending mortgages with no deposit at rates that where unsustainable

& here we are now people losing their homes folk can't get a mortgage for love nor money

next to no social housing so back to private/slum landlords charging what they want.the

mines where the most productive in the world at the time,& small businesses won't

flourish if everyone in the area is unemployed as folk have said 20 plus years later communities

have still not recovered from the actions of that spiteful hag

If these mines were so productive, why didn't labour etc get them reopened? Not all council houses were bought by scum bag landlords, you can make anything sound good...... Hunting with dogs was banned cos scumbags with bull crosses were killing everything in sight..... See its easy.

well it ain't just that easy to reopen a mine but some have been though a lot of open

cast wich don't employ anywhere near as many, i wasn't implying slum landlords

bought council houses but that they where/are allowed to prosper because of the

lack of social housing as the masses of council houses sold where never replaced

as for labour well there is no such party, new labour was tories in a different rapper

& i'm not here to defend them the post was about thatcher & i've simply voiced my

view on her & the results of her actions

The most recent 'political' thing I read about her was something to do with her expenses at No.10. Was more about what she didnt claim on expenses due to her principles. Now look at todays politicians... no principals.

Thats the problem gash.she only listened to herself and what she wanted, regardless if the nation didnt want it,and even when her own party thought it was wrong.

look no one is saying Britain didnt need to change and industry would need to be replaced if it wasnt paying its way.Its the brutal callous manner in which she did it!

,A lot of you are saying she was a true Patriot.Possibly.BUT the way she closed down and threw most if not all of our great industries and foundrys, pits etc on the scrapheap.with no regard to thier history or the communities it kept in work.

it should have been done slowly and with a great deal of thought and also an alternative in place for the community before closure of thier livliehood.

she couldnt have cared less if they starved to death, calling british workers and lower classes the enemy within, and there no such thing as society.Statements like that just make me more aware what a selfish c**t she was.

Like her or not, she put her plans on the table and looked at those she battled in the face, the current crop of politicians seem to smile in your face, whilst their cronies are stabbing you in the back. My parents brought their home and I suppose to be honest I did well in the thatcher years but I know that lots of peoples lives fell apart with all the industrial changes that took place in the 80's. My situation deteriated in the early 90's when the defence industry took a tumble. For me its simple, politicians are always gonna screw me over but I would rather them tell me that and be honest about it than to pee on me and call it rain!
