Phantom 631
Do it quietly and down wind. Pretty much the same as daylight, however ranging is a bitch at night until you get used to it Tony 1 Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
I switch off till I'm near enough then aim the lamp above it and bring it down onto the target rather than have a light look like its moving across the grass towards it. If you see what I mean. Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
If the rabbit runs, it pays to shine the spot between the rabbit and the shelter, I've had it stop them just long enough to get the shot off. Lamp shy rabbits may require just a change to/of filter, or even to nightvision and infra red. Quote Link to post
jw74 27
i tend to sit quiet and every so often shine the light around the field, when i spot a rabbit i turn the light off and wait for a min or 2 but try to keep a mental note on where the rabbit was. then start to stalk up nice and slow, when im about half way over to it i shine the light around to check its still there but i dont keep the light on the rabbit i sweep it across and when i see it i keep the lamp moving past it (so its not feeling threatened with light directly on it) at the same time im spotting where i need to get to to be in range.i use a clulite gun mounted light with a red filter on it(a red quality street wrapper on the end)as already said range estimation is quite hard to get the hang of at first but after a while it all seems to come together.a good tip is to look around your permision and find some trees or bushes or fence posts etc and work out some distances to work with at night,or some reflective tape on some kebab sticks put in the ground at certain distances ie your zero distance.and remember the rabbits look further away than they are in the dark.hope this helps Quote Link to post
