Checking Zero Before You Shoot- Why Its Important!

Hey guys went for a shoot today havent been out for a few weeks, since i got that long range crow, mainly to check the zero on my 97kt so i can go try find some bunnys tomoro.. and its a good job i did, it was well out!

 

3 shots aimed at the bull, all through the same hole- thats probably the best 3 shot group i have ever shot, well happy with that!

 

 

from an un-tuned springer at 34 yards using unwashed, unweighed jsb exact 4.52 mm, 8.44 grn

 

so after these 3 shots i took 1 more and it just made the hole slightly larger, as you can see here.. then a few clicks 2 more shots, another few clicks and another 2 shots, then another couple of clicks and were getting there with another very tight 3 shot group!

 

 

then clicked it down a couple of times and right a couple more to complete the zeroing process.

 

so the answer to the question hw97kt vs prosport....???....

 

had a lovely day shooting, nearly got a woodpigeon, i was just sat there plinking and it landed in the tree about 12 yards away, but all i could see was its arse end and tail feathers so i tried to move and get a shot at its head but it flew off. gutted! but ah well. a nice sunny warm day in the woods

 

but then i didnt win on the grand national ah well maybe next year lol

yup just do it...its like walking, do you think ahh one step left, one step right foot..allll the way home? lol

 

and ??? of course you check a zero..when you dont get a shot for a few weeks then miss? yes you'll always check lol.

Who said anything about missing ghillies? Every time i go out il check my zero before ahooting at vermin, thats the responsible thing to do

was just saying for the sake of others reading.

 

your getting nice grouping there..try not to let things keep you from your shooting, i always found the second i was on form sudenly every man and his dog desided i didnt need to go out lol.

 

 

(the just do it was refering to the shooting..)

No worries mate guess i took it the wrong way again! Ive been on a massive defensive recently lol guess im paraoid in my old age, 26 in a couple of weeks lol.!

 

I just think we owe it to the quarry to give them the cleanest kill possible, not just scare them with a shot 3 inches to the left and one inch high of their head lol (clean miss, better than a wounding tho )

here, just had a thought about zero'ing, has any one had a zero that wont center, i.e. its inbetween the clicks?

 

only cure i found for that is strip the scope off the mounts and rap electrical tape where the mounts grip.

Do you no have a pop at stones a fence post as you walking about checking its on target ?.

i do, but nothing that will leave perminant markings or damage...nothing worse than a patch of wood with trees covered in pepper holes.

 

after a couple years it really adds up quick.

Skot what pellets was that with? Mine is on AA feild at the moment but yet to do a pellet test.
