KILL YERSEL...

The real 'top class' pups aren't for sale...they're free....

How old was stud dog ?? suppose all dogs can spew but a good dog with 3+ hard seasons being dug to week in week out (or when fit) shouldnt spew !!! I know of a dog from near me that was dug to every 2

What about this.......stud dog DOESN'T spew because it hasn't had enough work to see if it will spew....... Would you still want a pup.....

was the dog a seasoned worker to warrent being a stud dog ............. very few 3/4 season dogs spew if they do whats the reason? .............if the dogs been doing the job for for few seasons dont worry about it crack on .. if the bitch works which it should or you would`nt be using it .and the dogs worked upto now you might drop lucky .. if a dog spews you have to question the circumstances . a dog thats gone from oct to now might not be a spewer and just sickened a rest a give them a go next season .. like i say circumstances ;)

the problem wih dogs is like this more than half the dogs about might be dug to once a week once a month or even less theres nothing to say that they dont do the job when taken out but when the dog has to up its game when worked more often thats when the problems occur ie walking or not putting in a full shift the only way to tell if the dog will spew is give it oppurtunity to spew but then again not many folk are of that opinion, also too many people too quick to dig soon as the dog settles instead of leaving it to do its job no point fooling yourselves or anyone else

on the other hand theres nothing to say the pups wont work but to what standard is a different question imo

TBH, how many lads on here dig one dog pretty much every week throughout the season?

Several do I know, but not as many as sell pups from "guaranteed" parents.

Everybody has "Top Class" pups for sale, but who decides that they are "Top Class"? :hmm:

Cheers, D.

Not many have top class pups, and the ones who have rarely have to sell them, they are gifted into like minded kennels.Often the top grade pups for sale are seldom that?.

in life and in dogs everyone has different standards. choosing your stud dog is the most important decision you will have to make if you want to breed working terriers, and is of great significance to the future of your yard. The first thing you should go for in a stud dog is for a stud dog that has produced good off spring and if possible seen them dug .In your situation you need to find out has your stud dog produced any off springs that are been dug. I myself know of dogs that quit but were good producers.i know of guys that used studs dogs that later quit, and guys went home and put to sleep the pups off the dog that quit. ( i myself have done this once ). Why did i do this you may ask ? there is no known formula for breeding good dogs, its luck and numbers bred from the best of stock !! As these pups get older you will always have that little bit of doubt in your mind about them, and you may hang on to them longer than what you should just to prove you made the correct decision in keeping these pups and who knows they may be top class workers. Or you could start off your quest for breeding a good working terrier next time your bitch comes in heat ( i hope your bitch has all the qualitys you expect to see in a good working bitch) and go to a good producing dog thats retired and earned his retirement, then it all luck and numbers again........but this time from quality stock !! best of luck with what you choose to do,i am using a family members account posting this ( P.I.K.E.Y).

lads first of the stud dog you going to use should have at least 5 or 6 good consistent seasons done and should always be able to get up close and kill his fox.. so him jacking in doesnt come into question.. also the bitch used has to be top class.. good finder .able to work and dig on and handle and stay until dug to... no excuses lads.. get the basics right and you breed good honest stock.. to many using poor 14 to 15 month old stud dogs with nothing done and worse still using poor bitches..loads of shite being bred and not hard to get it right if you stick to the basics.. and travel lads . dont take the local dog all the time.. and see the stud dog work or the bitch if you providing the stud dog.. if they not good enough be honest with yourself..

lowry your full off shit you have been breeding shit stock since ya went to Ireland and selling pups for 150 a pop off mediocre stock im sure every stud dog you used was five or six year old

The downside of that is that the proportion of people who do that are very much in the minority
