Qualifications Or Self Taught?

Recommended Posts

Self taught with some help, and did various courses & qualifications after I started up.

There's no substitute for getting your hands dirty, although using the knowledge learned from the classroom will help.

I found the RSPH level 2 very useful, beyond just having the qualification.

It's good that there are few (none that I know of) decent courses for rabbit control. Keeps the national companies away from these jobs and leaves it to people with traditional skills.

Still learning every day at work, and probably always will be. No course can teach you experience.

Good thread by the way.

:hmm: I feel that if anyone is going to specialise in the more rural types of pest control,.as opposed to the Commercial and Domestic workload of 'Rats , Mice, and Crawling Insects' , etc, then it pays to have undergone a whole lot of 'previous'

As a long time, Rural Pester,..it is often the things that I learned, by myself, that have enabled me to work and prosper, for myself....

However, for bug work, I realy think you do need a fair bit of extra tuition,..if only to steer clear of the Law Courts....
