Wxm 1,638
had a phone call of the police this morning asking for me and i said yeah that's me so he said just letting you know we're on our way down,(bit of an arse twitchier wondering wtf's up). they arrived and came in (arse still twitching), we've had reports that you have inappropriate pictures on your facebook profile so i asked what pictures and its hunting photo's of trips out with my 2 lads, holding dispatched game and the other holding my gun. they said its a serious matter and social services could be involved if it keeps up or i refuse to remove the pics so i removed them but advised them the pictures were taken on permission, its not against the law and in no way were they in danger ! i also told them that id rather them be into hunting and shooting rather than braking the law and getting in to pinching or drinking or some other illegal activity. but he said that's not the issue here and the problem is that the pictures were inappropriate and they are concerned in the welfare of the kids being brought up around guns there was no way in winning an argument with them so, just a word of warning and learn from my mistakes. kranky 507
Tell them to feck off!! There's nothing inappropriate about it, as long as it's all legal. tell them to arrest you and take it further. There's no charge for you to answer and just because someone with anti views doesn't like the pictures that doesn't make them inappropriate.

WATCH WHAT YOU PUT ON HERE AND THE LIKES OF FACEBOOK Dunno what to say mate - whole can of worms here? You'll get some who say you should have refused to take the pics down and that as long as no law is being broken you've done nothing wrong...for what it's worth I think you have done the right thing...you just don't know where it could end up...I never post pics of game/catches...one or two of my dogs in the past but none of what we do!!!! I have had a bit of unwanted attention in the past two or three months and have lost loads of sleep over it to be honest...keep the head down and don't load guns for someone to shoot you with is probably good advice...
Milwr Jr. 99
I genuinely feel sorry for the sporting game folk in this country. You can be sure they're just harassing you because you enjoy your shooting. f***ing filth. They took my pistol (it only fires blanks) a week or two back, it's for dog training purposes but the fuckers still haven't given it back. They told me they were fetching it back a few days ago, but they've just gone with the wind. I hate the f***ing pigs in this country.

Wxm 1,638
its a flippin joke, another was a pic of my lad in camo just holding a gun he said they wanted that removed also, I said its not even a real gun its a old toy and he said well its the image it portrays what a fcuking joke, theres pictures of kids with cans / bottles of beer and even in driver seats of cars in which they have no reason to be there or to be holding alcohol which is more damaging :censored:
Waz 4,274
Thats shocking. Is your profile open, ie can photos be seen by anyone your not friends with? Being bought up around guns in a sporting/hunting/countryside enviroment is a million times better and safer for a kid than watching gun crime around them anywhere in the world, even just watching the news!

Bit like WHSmiths backing down selling shooting sports mags etc... Edited April 5, 2013 by GD Waz
Ideation 8,216
To be honest if that was me, i would make a big thing of it. There is a BIG difference between what someone does not personally like and what is deemed unacceptable by Social Services. I work with SS regularly, and to suggest that because you take your lads shooting they might get involved is completely laughable. I would be straight on the phone to the boss man down the station and more. At the end of the day it isn't illegal, and it isn't endangering them, or in-appropriate for their age, it's just that someone has complained about you and found a sympathetic idiot policeman.
Carraghs Gem 1,675
Heres another perspective wxm... Someone who dislikes you has gone out of their way to report you to the cops and the cops are duty bound to investigate any reports they receive, take this as a warning that someone out there is out to get you so just be extra carefull
Ideation 8,216
Also looking at it another way - the forces of law an order, just tried to black mail you into removing something you have every legal right to display, by insinuating that they will try to get your kids taken off you . . . . and all because someone personally does not like it. Discrimination and bullying. That's border line illegal i would think?

Brewman 1,192
They were being over the top. If you have any details of the cops identities write them down and any details in particular of what they said. Ask to see their boss for the area that covers where you live. If you do get to see him/her ask for the specific legislation they were warning you and where the warnings and your replies were recorded. Remind him that you are entitled to your human rights which you feel were infringed namely Art 8 Privacy of home and private life, Art 10 Freedom of expression and lastly Protocol 1 Art 1 Peaceful enjoyment of ones property. Speak to SACS and any other organization as theyay have had complaints from others. I would say what they said about your pictures they would have difficulty backing it up. Thousands of children in rural areas grow up around firearms, its a way of life not crime. Atb, don't leave it at that. Brewman
