Josh1996 14
As above. I'm looking into buying a new dog soon but i don't really have the money or effort at the moment to separate my run into 2 parts for each dog. So I'm wondering if i buy a new dog would it get on with the one i already have at the moment. Or, shall i just get a bitch and separate them when she is in season. Quote Link to post

C Hall 552
If they start to fight and your not around to stop it one could end off dead or very badly injured. 1 Quote Link to post

Hot Meat 3,109
Get two pens before you get another pup and I personaly wouldn't get a pup until the older dog knew its job well Quote Link to post

paulus 26
all dogs are different and age and temprament will be the key factors, ive got father and son kennelled togeather and have been since the pup was 8 weeks going on 6 year old now with only 2 incidents over hierarchy. i also kept a little patterdale bitch in there with them for a number of years without any bother, only removing her when she was due in season. but ive had dogs here that no way would i put in with another dog and leave them. hawkins26 751
I had two male staffies one was about 18 month the other was about 5 month the old dog used to put it in its place now and again but me being stupid thought they were alright but when the pup matured it turned it around and nearly killed the older dog when I was at work I had my girlfriend screaming down the phone trying to break them up I would never have two males again. How are you going to separate dog and bitch if you don't have another kennel in the first place? Bring one in the house? Not house trained? Quote Link to post
pernod 466
Hi mate, this question comes up all the time on here. the answer should always be the same....its easy to build separate pens and keep all dogs and bitches apart. in my opinion it is just stupid and lazy to pen dogs/bitches together. and before the mob descend on me with ' my dogs live together fine, you just have to be in charge' bollox. if you value your dogs you would never take the risk. again only my opinion. BORDERSCOT 3,816
I wouldn't kennel 2 dogs in the same unit - jesus I've had dogs that can't get on in the same field let alone the same kennel - you just don't need that kinda headache...or vet bill... Quote Link to post
pritch 335
even if you get a bitch as you say your gonna have to separate them so do your preparation 1st & build your pen Quote Link to post
