twelsh 348
As you know Lucky il be doing a bit this season with a subaru.....Didnt do much driving last season...but prior to that been using the subaru's for about 7 year and was religiously out every friday through out the seasons..the adrenaline is awesome even before the dogs are out of the motor..and you are at the scene instantly to view the spectacle and not just walking over to a carcas ..You dont seem to get as much tackle now a days as we used to but you still get more tackle than you would on foot but like you say thats prob down to the amount of people now in the game!... There is alot of lads that double up on everything "each to their own" but i never have and never will entertain a dog that cant do a fox single handed regular....iv bought dogs in the past for £600 on trail and they have spewed after their first fox!A genuine "Fox Dog" are hard to come by nowadys...thats why i regret not breeding from certain dogs that we have had in the past! Had some Fantastic years thanks to the subaru id love to join you for a night Quote Link to post
twelsh 348
we were out 2 nights ago in 1.8 gl subaru in and out of fields not many cut yet thoe Quote Link to post

I'd actually forgotten all about that They wouldn't have stopped us going back over the Hoover Dam checkpoint though....we aren't Mexican Quote Link to post
lucky 578
imo the old 1800 l-series were unbeatable when it comes to driving fields. the 1600 models were pretty good although they did'nt have the low box, the legacy turbos are too fast and struggle to keep traction and dont have a low box either, the 2.5 legacys blow head gaskets for fun and most are autos, the 2.2 is'nt much faster than the 2.0 mainly just top end, and heavier on juice, the 2.0 litre legacys are still very fast, mine does 60 mph in 2nd gear and has a top speed of 130 mph (how much faster do you need to go ?), the gl is pemanant four wheel drive with low box and the dl is selectable four wheel drive with low box but the drive shafts on the dl are a lot weaker, the old 1800 legacys are a good strong motor just slightly less power than the others. apart from subarus i've lamped in fourtracks which were fast enough and very capable off road but a very hard ride and short on room, discoverys plenty of room but they dont turn so good at speed good off road though and good on fuel, patrols very good off road with plenty of bottem end power but just not quite fast enough on the acceleration, shogun (2.5 swb) very good all round apart from the boot space i'd put these at the top of my list, apart from subarus of course i've also drove fields in a toyota tiercel a corrola 4wd and a sierra xr 4x4 but only the corrola survived to lamp a second night (i think it lasted 3 nights) . subaruwilly 8
legacy turbo estate for most of the season, i have fitted the outback suspension onto it to give it the extra ground clearance which saves alot of damage underneath with all the weight it has to carry and a set of 15" rally tyres on for the traction, some people may say they are too fast and in the wrong hands i agree they can be lethal but in the right hands WHAT A f****n TOOL ! they will get you onto more tackle than any other 4x4 you could think of within a reasonable price range, and when it gets too wet late on in the season we switch to the 300tdi range rover classic with bf goodrich mud terrains, touch wood we never been stuck in it yet Quote Link to post
YORKIBOY 4
I WILL SECOND THAT we had some good nights out mate. some good 4x4 ,s on the team this year bring it on. Quote Link to post
