Ideation 8,216
Probably around the kind of age you should be breeding off a dog. Quote Link to post
toby1066 413
should be fine as long as the bitch is fit and healthy Quote Link to post
whippet08 8
Cheers , just a few people saying that she be to old ,being shes not had a litter before, etc etc , obviously any whelping could have complications, but you would say that 6 is a acceptable age? Is this something you have done ..ie bred dogs of that age , with good results, cheers for the replys .richard Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Think its way more common in the working dog world than in the pet dog world. Pet dog owners like to breed off 2 yr old fluffy, because she is young and they want another little fluffy. But to be honest, most decent working dog folk only start thinking of breeding a bitch around the 4/5/6 year old mark. And plenty of healthy litters have been reared by 7/8 year old bitches. You just need to make sure she is well looked after, well fed and fit etc. 1 Quote Link to post

pip1968 2,490
whats been already said as most people with working dogs would wait to see if the dog was worth breeding off and not just after 2 seasons graft Quote Link to post
