All these folk saying it's not fair, you shouldnt do it, get a proper tool for the job etc.

 

How do you stop them hunting them in the day?

 

I get that you can choose not to go out with the lamp looking for them and slipping on them. But if you walk/run/mooch about with your dog regularly, in the countryside, then the little feckers will sooner or later come across one, or it should do anyway. And then what? D'ya ask it nicely not to, because it might get hurt?

 

It's just one of those things.

Exactly why a well trained dog that will break off and recall, is much more useful to a moocher than an 'all or nothing' coursing type (nowt against em just a specialist dog rather than an allrounder generally)

For me, its a big job fer a whippet. You could fell a tree with a Hatchet, but why would you if theres chainsaws about. Theres enough of em brave enough an quick enough but its never gonna be as clean and quick as summat bred for purpose. The Whippet was bred for the rabbiting and racing niche, unfair to ask more.

I would be a little upset if my dog called off quarry when he had risen it. And he's not an all out coursing type, he's too slow

It's just one of those things, dog works the woods / cover, a way off. You hear a commotion, you get there and there is a dog and a dead fox. These things happen.

 

Once again no one has EVER said it was better or as good as a purpose bred lurcher.,

why single handed matter? i gt colliexwhip an beddyxwhip neither gona be teeth dogs, but there all rounders, expected to complete the task if needed occationally, my dogs are a team tho dnt care if they need doublin, why dnt start another thread whippets takin fallow buck lol if it cant do it on its own its a potlicker lol

My view un less pest control it disrespect on quarry how about the foxes mates cone team up on ur dog 1 nite. No better then a group of lads starting fight on 1 muka hardly a fair fight

who said this game was fair?? this debate mostly been how quickly and effeciently a whip can kill a fox, people sayin the quicker and cleaner the kill the better,,, so a 26tts bullx tht can do it single handed in seconds is fair then????????????? just as fair as 2 small whips i ent into throwing my dog into a fox that its equally matched against for erm sport or give the fox a 'fair' chance aainst my dog u an idiot?? hardly a fair fight what a donut

I think your forgetting a lot of foxes are killed in the name of pest control not just for the love of it. I'm not into foxes, don't see the point if you can't eat it.
