charlie caller 3,654
Not got or used one, but by the reports I have had they seem to perform well, but if a super quick .17 vermin round is your thing, buy a .17 rem awesome little varmint round, and a much better choice of rifles too. richmcgin 32
I had a .17 rem, it was an old style of rifle, i cant even remember what make it was, i only used it a few times and i gave it to a friend as the i found the 223 much better. Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
got one and factory ammo was about .50 at 100 but the best thing is its no louder than a hmr and i can re-load.spot on i have the dies and i'm just starting load development .will keep you posted but i'm at .75 allready after 40 shots and expect that to be sub .50 at least with home loads and no dodgy hmr ammo. Deker 3,478
The .17 Centrefires have never taken the market by storm and there is no reason to think/suggest this will either. No doubt the .17Hornet will float some peoples boat, and every calibre has a use (some a very narrow band of use), but look at what else is out there. What do you want it for, what does it excel at uniquely, what gap in the market does this fill, what quarry is screaming out for this, there is a argument to suggest it solves a problem that doesn't exist! Anyway, still only very low numbers of these available in the UK and therefore no real meaningful data/information to judge it by. It may sound as though I'm having a go, I'm not, I'm struggling to work out what use it would be to "me" and sitting on the fence until I can find out more. Time and the market will show if these have a place. Think on about the new .17 Winchester Super Mag Rimfire, even less known about this at the moment but I can't help thinking this may have more of a place than the .17 Hornet, if we can believe what we hear about it, but we have to wait and see!
