Mawders 595
Lovely creatures them, I'm a big birds or prey fan and saw one of those whilst out on my perm a few weeks back, it was about 30 yards away watching something, looked at it through the scope and the colours on them are really good! Anyone caught shooting anything not on the vermin register with air guns should have some justice their way! 1 Quote Link to post
porkycrook 466
I was on my main permission the other week and part of it next to a guard-house. Well the guards have put a bird table up along with some hanging feeders, these are meant for the little birds including peckers. Well because the guards put feed not only on the tables but drop some on the floor, which have enticed both tree rats and ground rats (which is where I come in). Well I was sat waiting for a rat to make an appearance when in a heart-beat every sparrow, tit, finch and woodpecker had disappeared. This thing came into the area so fast and landed onto the bird table leg, it was the far side of the table leg so I couldn't make out what it was. But thought it had to be something like sparrow hawk the way every flying thing in the area had gone to hide. I am like no doubt a lot of air gun shooters that quite often look through the scope, just as Mawders has done watching things through the scope. But because I have Joe public passing by me I have to be very careful and if looking at something through scope, I have to make sure that I have only one hand on the gun and that its miles from the trigger. But as has been advised earlier before trying to catch the people responsible I would definitely call the police in, before you get accused. Quote Link to post

j j m 6,555
contacted the head groundsman and he is contacting the police so they can have a look around at night, the thing is its that big of a place they could hide anywhere, thats why theres a few of uss watching the main gates as theres a 7 foot spiked fence all around its not easy to get over,i for one would bend the gun round a tre and give them a slap there no need for it to happen, most airgunners enjoy watching the wild life while we are watching for our legal quarry to shoot, these muppets get uss all a bad name Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
i was watching a peregrine falcon attacking a wounded wood pigeon last year. i seen the pigeon first on the floor and was just about to put it out of its misery when something caught the corner of my eye, came swooping down at the pigeon at very high speed bowled it over a few times and then landed on a low branch about 25 yards away. i was watching it through the scope trying to see what it was. thought it was a sparrowhawk at first but it was deffo a peregrine Quote Link to post
