Groverdog 0
Herse where i expose myself as the eccentric i am Hares for example: Long powerful hind legs/Eyes that see all around them/large ears for hearing the slighest noise all in all built for the chase and ability to jinx to evade capture. In Britain there are few predators of hares that require them to use what nature gave them to escape except for Eagles up here, Foxes (can they catch a hare with ease?). With this lack of predation will the Hare in time evolve into something that is non regonisable to what we know now. Suppose what i am getting at is if they are not hunted/coursed regualry will they become different over time?
sandymere 8,263
If the theory of evolution is correct then predation pressures should be part of the evolutonary driver but it would take a very long time and the past couple of thousand years of coursing would have hardly registered genetically. I feel that in current times extinction is a more likely outcome due to habitat destruction that will outpace any evolutionary response.
juckler123 707
Leverettes will always need speed to avoid capture and old charlie hunts in twos and threes in the summer months where i live so i cant see it . We were all taught evolution at school but personally i dont believe we came from fish or amphibians animmals might have gained or lost strengths on how good or bad their predation is but thats took millions of years to do. As for something evolving into something else has that ever happened ? the government would have us believe so Its like the missing link its my belief its missing cos there aint one

BlueCoyote 0
the dodo bird is in the pigeon dove family .. it lived on an island and had no predators, but yes it did take millions of years to get that way, but only years to wipe them off the face of the earth http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20..._0228_dodo.html
Groverdog 0
Wierdo eccentric here! Im not very good at putting thoughts into words but what i was thinking was that if all factors are removed that have given that particular animal reasons for it to be built the way it is would it evolve into a different shape eventually. I would like to visit earth for a while in a thousand years just to see whats happened
