I'm after a yellow norwich canary hen for mulling.

Firstly what is the best colour for mulling with a goldfinch?

Secondly where is the best place to pick one up in a few months after the breeding season?

Thanks

I thought Norwich were poor parents and you need to put the eggs under other canary hens and i thought it was always best to use a Norwich cock and native hen due to this, but i'm no Norwich blood fan and will never own one myself so just going on what i've been told about them??? :hmm: .

most who breed norwich use glousters ect as feeders they have always been shit parents unles someone has discovered a new strain  hinckley and burbage was the best in the world for this breed and i new a lot who bred them from there, but that was a good few years ago

when i kept norwich i had good stock

and all mine self reared and some of the cocks were prolific feeders

but i know some of the lads use fifes as feeders

you'll be hard pushed getting a decent norwich hen unless your paying good money

if your starting off try using fife, irish or a dimorphic hen you'll get some nice mules out of them

Thanks for all your help lads.

I think I'm going to get a yellow norwich. I'd rather spend a bit on a decent bird and give myself the best possible start.

What's the going rate for a decent hen?

Thanks
