mrgjones 64
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION... Keeping a dog outside...would take serious dedication to compare with the bond of that of an indoor dog.... A dog indoors sees the owner all round the house, has a wee stroke on the head as your walking past and the odd 'good girl' or cheery comment the dog picks up on.... If your dog has a change in mood, a slight injury or a bit of an off day.... you would pick up on it straight away in the house.... as the dog walks around or doesnt want to to be made a fuss of and wants to sit itself out the way. I know we have picked up on things straight away due to quirky little habits being missed....even saved the life of the lab due to this For a dog to be outdoors and recieve the same level of care as that of an indoor one....you have to give up an awful lot of time to work with it.... Now im not saying there arent people who do this.... there clearly is But on a whole i bet a lot of outdoor dogs arent getting the time they deserve....or dare i say... the care... But didnt you know...outside dogs are 'arder'? I agree mate. Mabe not practical if you keep hounds! my dogs sleep in the utility.cat flap out the back door into the garden as a run. in the house of an evening. think a lot of lads have visions of dogs sleeping in bed with you [BANNED TEXT] thay hear there inside dogs. In the bed? No... But sprawled out wherever they please... You wont get a bond like this...... keeping the dogs seperated from the kids.... A dogman in the making.... just look at the glint in his eyes 4 Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
MACK WHY DID YOU WRIGHT THAT MATE THEN PUT PICS UP In reply to the post above........ Nice 'digging dog' you have there. How deep can it dig? Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
There's nothing hard about keeping dogs outside, it's just more practical for some. It makes no difference to working ability either. Dogs have to be socialised wether a worker or a pet and IMO there is no excuse not to have put the work in to do it. Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
My dogs live outside all the more reason to make sure they are completely socialised and have a healthy nature so that when they come across strangers or children they behave accordingly and show the correct respect ........ Beat me to it Socks, what do you lads who wont let their "working dogs"mix with kids do when on arriving at permission wether its a farm, golf course etc and find children present one of our best permissions is a busy golf club, with bridlepaths /public footpaths alongside it,families wandering about are a certainty.....in situations like this letting these people pat the dogs/ferrets and a quick chat has gained us more permission than knocking on doors.... 1 Quote Link to post

bitchie 292
you s see the dog in the house? i like my dogs inside. for my self it looks like inside dogs have a better conaction to the owner/handler but outside dogs are tougher. what is beter that everyone has to find out them self. ofcorse you can not have 20 or more dogs inside. so everysite got positiv and negativ things.
