It's in-breeding which ever way you do it - parents genes and offsprings genes - for as many people will say it can " fix " a trait, there are those who say it just leads to genetic mutations and problems.

Ime not doing it just curious after hearing father to daughter is ok but son over mother is not ok I whuld of thought it whuld be same

Most terrier kennels inbreed to fix and keep type,it can lead to problems,the odd outcross usually alleviates any of these.

genetically yes - you are mixing parent with offspring - you are going to have a limited number of genes whichever way round it happens.

Any breeding close like mentioned can be fraught with disaster due to not only the good points being doubled up but also any faults,phenotypes (physical) are there to be seen but the genotype is carried within its genes,this is when you will hit problems,the plummer gene pool was too small to start with and over the 40yrs of breeding there has been some serious health problems because of it,many serious faults only show up when bred too close,WM
