A1WOC 212
Over the past few days I have been thinking about buying a .177 HW 97KT. This morning I succumbed to temptation and rang around my local RFDs for availability and price. I started with the closest RFD, Belper Tackle & Gun; a pre-recorded message explained the shop was open but understaffed due to illness, with no one answering; at that point I hung up and widened my search to several other RFDs, only to be told none in stock. Two shops offered to contact HC on Tuesday, to order one, but I declined their kind gesture as I would have liked one today. By this time I knew the best price to pay should I have to order one. I tried telephoning Belper Tackle & Gun again only to be greeted with an engaged tone. With them being close to me I decided to pay them a personal visit, and if needs be order one from them if the price was right. The shop was busy but one assistant, Emma, AKA Cubleycat/Snypercat was on hand. When I asked Emma if they had a 97KT she explained they only had one standard K (original style stock) and one synthetic KT in .177 and one KT in .22; I declined saying I wanted the beech stock in .177 and followed up by asking if they would price match if I ordered one. After stating the best price I had been offered, she agreed to come within five pounds of that figure. After a pause in the conversation, Emma said she may have a solution if I wanted one immediately yes please I said and she set about swapping the stocks around of the .177 and .22 to achieve exactly what I wanted for the previously agreed price.
