Hunting In The West Country

Next week was supposed to be camping in Belgium with my brother but after a team talk we have decided to delay it till weather warms up. SO.... was thinking of having a few days hunting in the west country to round off the season.

 

Dont know where to go... so any surgestions? Any one hunting next week, midweek, and wouldnt mind me tagging along? I know I'm not likely to see much without a local guide. May also consider a day mounted so am looking at hireling horses ont internet. Will I find one so last minute and are exmoor/D+S worth seeing at the minute.

 

PM's more than welcome and I can provide referances from current huntsmen and masters.

Give the White Horse at Exford a ring and have a chat.

 

They organise hirelings and will sort you out, but you will need deep pockets.

yeah horses are near double the price for the day down there, especially in april when the whole country heads down there for an extra months hunting.

If you find yourself on Exmoor then try and get a day out with the Tiverton SH rather than the D&S. You'll find them a bit wild, but they aren't quite as busy as the D&S and do things in a more traditional manner (if you get my drift).

 

For Foxhounds, try a day out with the Dulverton West, again, much quieter than the Stars, but similar country.
