Its_grim_up_norf 577
I surf all down the NE coast. Saltburn is my local spot. Even when a bit of seaweed brushes past your feet your mind starts working over time hahaha!! Never mind the thought of anything like that. Once you've been in the water a while though you don't think about it...but at first all you can hear is the jaws theme.
N/east poacher 85
Yeh it's 100% true was a thresher shark, loads of seals Around south gare Redcar, maybe after them

Nik_B 3,790
I don't think Threshers eat seals. That's more the big sharks like makos and Whites. Threshers feed of shoals of fish like makeral.
RubyTex 1,957
According to people living in Saltburn it's bollocks and nowts been washed up?? On their 'local news' Facebook page anyway....
Its_grim_up_norf 577
I'm sure I remember a mako being washed up at redcar...but that can mean anything they can die in waters miles away and just drift over to here i suppose. I saw a lemon shark with the dog down the gare once...he didnt know what to make of it. Quite a small thing though, hardly what nightmares are made of.

Suppose with all the Easterly winds we've had and rough seas all sorts will be washed up over the coming days.....never seen a shark or anything like that though. i've only ever seen seals, the closest i've got is the big f****r who nicked the fish off the end of my line, taking rod and reel over the side with it......hope it choked on it
weasle 1,119
Great whites have been seen on our coasts.Had the pleasure of going in a cage with them,The water was very murkey by the time you saw them they where swimming right next to the cage,Was like a bus going past all you could see was shark.Wouldnt want to meet one without the cage.

walshie 2,804
I'm pretty sure there are 4 rod caught British record sharks. Porbeagle, Mako, Blue and Thresher. Who knows what else is lurking out there?
Wullz 408
Was there not a case recently of 4 sea kayakers being circled by a faitly large shark up near Orkney? Big black triangular fin cutting round them in decreasing circles, the lads keeched it and got up onto the nearest beach till it fekked off......the descriptions suggest it was a Great White.... I dont know if itss true this one, you know what chinese whispers is like. some police tape went up the other day near us and it wwas everything from a body found to a bank heist according to facebook. dont know what to believe. hahaha! theyre a nightmare down the gare the seals. had a few off me in the past. only rod i had go in is on a carp lake though. had one on a ledger/feeder and a little whip out on the float. nothing all day then both went at the same time. Had to decide which rod i liked less pretty sharpish.
