fxshooter 18
As a newbie here I need some advice about which brand of gloves to buy to keep my hands warm when out on my permission. At present I have a pair of Aldi neoprene camo gloves which the thumb and trigger finger fold back on. These have been fine until this cold weather arrived. I had to give up on my last hunting trip as I lost all feeling in my trigger finger. I then returned home to the mrs and kids. Any advice will be greatly received. Quote Link to post

Well i will find out tonight, going out for a mooch and see how they are. If any good i will let you know on the post. But have you tried keeping the gun on a sling, and only get it ready to shoot if you know there is quarry about, keep the gun ready to fire, but keep hand in pockets till then .? Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
I have a pair of Bitish Army DPM, that I was given a couple of years ago. Lovely and warm although not brilliant when it came to potting the trigger finger through the small trigger guard of an air rifle LOL I modified them by putting an opening in the trigger finger so I could slide my trigger finger out and onto the blade of the airgun trigger. Worked well until I washed them They shrunk So now I have a pair of Swiss Army Artic Mittens with thumb section and trigger finger. Again two large for airgun trigger guards, so I removed the foam and synthetic fur from the trigger finger. This leaves a gap that closes to keep the trigger finger warm, but allows me to slide my trigger finger out for the shot and operate the bolt easily. 100% water, wind and minus temperatures proof Pain in the ass for reloading though as the whole mitt has to come off Tony Quote Link to post
woodcote1 88
Try something that is lined with Thinsulate. Quote Link to post

These gloves had for waterproof, but are very warm as well. As said above will deff keep your hands warm, just wip'em off to shoot your quarry, then back on no prob Quote Link to post
Stormspiel 17
I've got jack pyke neoprene a and I'm well happy with them. Went out the other night in -1C for a few hour and hands were toasty. Waterproof aswell so the snow had no effect whatsoever. Little finger slips for trigger finger means you can just pop it out to fire and back in easily. Only downside I'd say is loading a mag up is a bit tricky but could be solved by putting a slit in the thumb same as trigger finger. You can't complain for £18 though really Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
Bought a pair of green thinsulate mittens that fold back on themselves to reveal fingerless gloves. they are the warmest gloves I've ever owned. my mate has raynauds syndrome and as a result has terrible circulation problems. he lost his fingertips a few yrs back to frost bite. he gets special battery operated heated gloves from his specialist. and he says the mittens are warmer than the battery gloves. the main thing with any gloves, is to put them on while your hands are warm. because with your hands being extremities, they are very difficult to re warm. 1 Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
P.s the mittens where only 6 quid from army surplus shop. Quote Link to post
The one 8,503
i also bought a pair of Aldi neoprene camo gloves and there good but i brought a pair of red duck cammo gloves back from america and if its really cold i slip in a hand warmer in each one and then they really work Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Try these - i can shoot quite happily with them still on, the material is soft enough you can feel the take up of the trigger. They don't cost the earth either! http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/outdoor-clothing/gloves-accessories/quality-dark-olive-green-thinsulate-428060.html Quote Link to post
