earth-thrower 493
I think its peaking where i am,as far as male moles on the move, after females,is concerned.Loads of double catches (mostly males) this week, in particular.Thats the traps ive been able to locate, under the snow mind ! Quite a site, me scraping the snow away furiously, with my mole spade. LOL ( with only a 4 inch wide head on it too ) Anyone want to lend me a snow shovel ! ha-ha. Quote Link to post
nod 285
the snow was only here for a day out my way, Quote Link to post
Matt 160
It's back to winter here. No double catches all week; in fact the first week since last August that I haven't had at least one double. Got a few jobs on; last few moles not playing the game, but lots waiting to be done when the weather improves. I've got a feeling that the phone will go nuts as soon as the sun shines and a few folks get out into their gardens. Quote Link to post
DKGPestControl 22
Doubles have slowed for us here now just the odd one here and there. Went through a 14 day period where all 3 of us and two other pestie mate had a job to atch them but gladly that has gone back to normal lol Quote Link to post
outandabout 27
Here in Kent a couple of weeks back we had a covering of snow and the moles went mad, On a couple of jobs I was watching them throwing earth up through the snow. But now the snow's gone they don't seem as active, and less call outs. Quote Link to post
Le Braconnier 49
Been getting doubles regularly since January including two doubles in the same trap & location in consecutive days and this week, two singles and a double in the same trap & location in three consecutive days. The last instance was two small moles followed by a double that would appear to be Mum & Dad Quote Link to post
DKGPestControl 22
Had a couple of doubles (different traps) today. And a couple of call backs to gardens i cleared 2 weeks ago. Quote Link to post
Le Braconnier 49
I've been clearing a large field working my way down from one end to the other. After nearly getting to the far end I had a walk back and saw new diggings in an area where I'd previously cleared so I popped a tunnel trap down. About three hours later while walking the dog she indicated the trap and I found a double capture, both facing the same way. I can only think that one of the moles reversed into the trap Quote Link to post

I reckon the one that was the wrong way would have squeezed past the trigger somehow, at speed and dislodged the other trigger on its way through. I had this a while ago, I wanted a mole alive for something so when i saw a fresh hill being turned at the side of the road i stopped the car and dropped a 'weak and shit chinese trap that i carry for such occasion' into the run./A quick stamp later and the mole was caught,. but the wrong way around and fully alive......Funny things them moles ain't they! Ive had this a couple of times, le brac. I believe Darcys onto something here.I figured the mole probably squeezed by the dead mole, but got caught by the other trigger,on the way through.Im not 100% certain about this, though. I like that theory. Pushing on the dead mole and getting its other hind leg on the trigger for leverage. Good call. Quote Link to post
