working cockers

Recommended Posts

Hi, saw my mates dog yesterday which he called a working cocker. He said some people think its a springer/cocker x when they see it. Its chooclate in colour and runs around like a nutcase. I am more of a terrier person myself but just wondering if anyone can shed any light if this breed is still worked. Cheers...

Never had a cocker myself yet but I ahve seen alot of them cracking little dogs. We were shooting geese and ducks last year me and my mate dropped two geese and when he looked round his little cocker was gone he picked up the goose by the neck and dragged it back amazing thinking the goose was nearly the same size as the dog. I have one on my wish list.

Cheers - thanks for the info, just checked out his papers and apparently there are a few FTCHs in his breeding including RIGFOOT TEAL, JADE OF LIVERMERE and WERNFFRWD PAWN. He's only my house mates 2 year old pet but he seems to have stacks of drive and hopefully I will be able to take him out and gets some sport with him as there's lots of land around here, do spaniels bush like terriers and catch rabbits or is it all flushing to guns and birds? Cos I am bang out of shotguns and Harris hawks ha!

We used to have a nice little black and white Cocker in the family a few years ago. Craking little dog on the farm my dad worked.

Sadly she died when she was about 3 from a disease i was too young to remember most of it.

we have a cocker, not working bred but she gets stuck in, she flushes well to the gun and marks when i am ferreting, stock steady and good with the kids,

KerryB she doesn't tend to catch in undergrowth like terriers do, but not through lack of trying :D
