TOMO 26,839
Had another day out today with vin,,, he brought his young pup who is just 5 and a half months,, I said to him yesterday he won't get a better chance to get that pup a few catches,, as the snow was so deep up there,, it made for easy picking for the dogs,, added to that the bunnys are in piss poor condition,, a bit like a mixi rabbit,,, skiing and bone, cos there starving to death,,, however they are perfect for a pups education. Well we claimed to the top of the fell and soon wished we haddent,,, lol. It was fecking Baltic up there with the wind blowing the snow horizontal,,, it was like sceen from and article expedition ,,, it realy was that bad,, the warrens were covered in snow,, so on most there was just one or two holes that were open,,, in fact the warren with the most holes open was a 6 holer,,, but I'm sure I was ferreting some warrens that normaly have 20 or so. In places the snow was up to my nackers ,, in the drifts by the walls ect,,, feck was it ruff,,, but we had a grand old time and I did get a few good runs,, and vin got some catches for his pup ,,, wich was great,,, and she performed some perfect retrieves ,, so he was like a kid in a sweet shop,,lol Although I had a few nets in my pocket I didn't lay a single net,, and neither did vin,,, just bolted for the dogs,,, I did have a few digs,,, but nothing more than a spit of soil,,, so no dramas on that front,, all in all a cracking day to be out apart from the conditions,,, that said there's a beauty in that bleakness ,,, and stood up there on them tops looking down ,, its almost majestic .. We ended the day on 52, and finished early around 2 wich made a change,, Here's a few pics 4 Quote Link to post

patterdalejoel 669
i love it when its like that up there, when you have your tea that night you feel like you deserve it! you want to razz around on a quad when its like that with the snow going sideways, the wind created by that and the speed of the quad literally makes your face go numb, love it! Guest vin
My back is still frozen to the spine. No Pain..No Gain...lol The Pup was perfect today..the conditions for her were better than perfect.. So I tied the Old dog to the Spade and let the Pup have a few runs through the day..She missed her 1st because it ran downhill very fast etc etc..but the next one gave her a good little run around and she eventually picked it up after a couple of misses and attempted grabs etc etc..Best bit was the perfect retrieves into my hand ( At one point to a Quiet nod of the head and a round of applause from Tomo who was looking down form a few hundred yards above me ). by the end of the day the pup had caught at least 5 ( one practically ran into her mouth out of a hole with no effort involved ) and she retrieved them all very well through some very deep snow etc etc. . .She Followed the old dog around and never made a sound or caused any stress at all..she was just chilled to the max... So Im happy chappy with my 5 1/2 months old puppy getting a great little starter in the game. . .She,s got a lot of growning to do and learning to be done..But so far so good..lol. PS..the older dog was unstoppable..it was just too easy for her..she even caught one while tied to the spade,as it ran past her..lol. Cheers Tomo. . . top day. Quote Link to post
