Theres nothing glamorous at all about villany, the perception of "glamour" comes from films and tv. The reality is plenty of time looking over your shoulder, plenty of time behind the door with a loa

What Gnasher says about the krays rings right, they where pure gangsters , lived and breathed the whole scene, born out of the frustration of abject poverty, they really set the bench mark for the who

If we want to talk real villainy that knocks all else into a cocked hat then have a look at the EU, just cleared out £10 billion from Cypriot banks in full view of the whole world and got away with it

Sometimes a little education can be a dangerous thing

I don't have to worry then because I have absolutely none as my academic career was cut somewhat short ! Lol

It makes me laugh when villains justify what they do by saying there putting food on the table. Yer things were tough after the ww2 but no more tough than for millions of other people who actually went to work ! It's been a long time since anyone has actually been starving especially gangsters .

Very true, many millions went to good honest jobs and made a life and those men are to be admired

However, I heard a story of a lad who went in the army in 1936 as it was that or prison.

He went over with the BEF and his regiment or group or whoever was some of the ones who got cut off in Belgium or told to stay and fight so the rest could get away.

His best mate was killed and they were eventually taken prisoner.

They were taken to a camp in Poland and required to dig coal, this lad was also assigned a job in the camp, that job was to cut the throats of fellow prisoners in the camp who were informers to the Germans.

He stole the rotten food from the dustbins in order to keep his group fed properly and this was an offence punishable by being locked in a box in the ground........

When the Russians were getting close towards the end of the war, they were marched out in the snow and made to walk a thousand kilometres until finally liberated in Germany by the Americans

On being liberated, the jeep this lad was in hit a mine and the lad was badly injured.

On recovery the Army told him he would not be allowed to be demobbed like the others so he had to pretend to be nuts and they stuck him in the nuthouse.

There he stayed, pouring dinner all over himself until they really believed he was barmy and finally let him out without so much as a thanks very much

What's a bloke like that gonna do?......not exactly working for the post office material so he did what most would do and said " bollocks to the lot of them" and just got on in his own way

There's no excuse for it and I am sure he didn't want one......

I don't condone it but I don't condem it, he just did what he thought was best I suppose and I can understand that

Anyway, it's just a story I was told once
