DEAN R 26
Hi to all I have been shooting air rifle all my life but now feel the time is right to apply for my shotgun licence . I have plenty of land to shoot but all the checks ect are putting me off I have nothing to hide or owt like that I just feel daunted and my partner isn't helping as she doesn't want a shotgun in the house but is alright to have an airgun ? I've explained to her that it will have to be in a gun cabinet and securely fastens up but she ain't having any of it .the big question is has any one else felt like this and why ? And does the shot gun have to be kept in the house or is the garage ok as I think she would come round to that idea thankyou for reading thanks dean Quote Link to post
terryd 8,638
Sounds like your biggest issue is the wife. Tell her it will be in a secure cabinet and only you will have the key I think they find them scary and rightly so I guess seeing as they can kill. My wife was dubious at first but she came around. The rest of it is easy the fire arms guy that came to see me is a nice as pie right country side chap and been in the game for years Edited March 25, 2013 by terryd Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Hi dean I can't offer much advise regards the mrs shes the boss lol, joking aside,my mate has his safe in the garage, the type attached to the house not the detached ones, some forces don't like it though so I hear, just try to get through to her its as safe as can be,and only you can access them, failing that mate 3 pair of new shoes and a box a black magic may be the answer, good luck, Atb Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
OK Remember one thing Everyone is ENTITLED to a sgc. You don`t have to justify one, if you want it they HAVE to give you it, unless they can come up with a good enough reason not to. Don`t sweat it bud,, it`s yours. As for security, my first shotgun was chained to the water pipe under the sink,,, on the feo`s advice ! hahahahaha Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
Take the missus clay shooting, show her that used safely a shotgun is just like anything else,a tool, emphasise that it will be locked away and only you will have the keys to the cabinet, I am afraid that you must get her on side,if the feo asks her if she is happy for you to have a gun in the house and she says no,you have had it mate, sounds like you have some work to do,nice meal out and a chat about it might do the trick pal, personaly I would not be with a woman who was not sympathetic to my lifestyle, good luck mate. 1 Quote Link to post
