Decoying Advice

Recommended Posts

It all depends some days it works other days it will put birds off, depends also where your shooting and if the birds have been shot at before and what they are feeding on, you dont see many crows feeding on a field of rape but you do on a drilled field so thats when Ill take the crow decoys.

I think on the days it doesnt work its because the sun can shine on a black decoy or it rains heavy and makes them look unrealistic, also a crow placed too near the edges of a field can put birds off.

I would say never buy those plastic decoys buy flocked crows every time and make sure they are further to the middle of the field rather than the edges as a crow will always land as close to the middle as possible so its got a good view of the field edges for danger.

And stick to 2-3 crow decoys to start with at most and place them away from your pigeons decoys then if you nail any passing crows get em pinned up, as you can never beat natural feather.

i did it the opposite way i had my crow decoy in the classic v/c shape with 3 fud pigeons to the back corner to my surprise the few pigeons which came in landed in the c/v pattern of the fun crow's.

there are very few pigeons in northern ireland so i many target crows encased your wondering why i was set up like this.
