Whippets Ill

Recommended Posts

Looking for some advice, before I phone the vets, but basically Friday night one of the dogs killed a rat in the garden ( I wasn't home but my misses assumed it was the terrier pup ) anyway since last night one of the whippets was being sick and not eating so I thought I'd just keep an eye on her and now she's still being sick it's a yellowy fluid but this morning g it's been a red/ orange colour I'm thinking now it may have been the whippet that's killed the rat, if it was her could this be because the rat has possibly eaten poison? And now it's affecting the dog? Any suggestions welcome otherwise I will get her to the vets ASAP.

secondary poisoning is very rare nowadays with the new rodenticides mate. it would have to have eaten a good amount over several days. There is a posibility of it being leptosporosis but it doesnt sound like it., are the dogs jabs up to date?, yellow fluid is normally bile, is there signs of grass in it?. is the dog still drinking?

yea I spoke to a mate on the phone and he said it didn't sound like lepto, dogs are jabbed, wormed and what ever else is all up to date, there's no signs of grass in the bile, she's hardly drinking any water but she's not dehydrated.
