More Crap Luck

Recommended Posts

was out on a spot last saturday, invited for a stroll about.i had finished the hunting 5 weeks ago and decided to have a wander with my mate.Well after a walk,up got a hare and off went the dog and after a right lung burster he came back and was not looking good.i checked him over and he had a bit of a hole inhis gut so that was that.short and sweet, walked cancelled and back to the van.when i opened the van dog was unable to stand so I carried him in home and laid him out on the floor.Got a mate that runs greyhounds to check him over and he has a broken rib and has acidosis(lactid acid). For the next four days he stayed in the back room wrapped up in a douve and recharge pumped into him for the time, anti inflamitaries and anti biotic given.Pissed off isnt the term id use as its not strong enough but hey......thats the dog game for ye.they'll never get anything locked in the kennell.Fingers x'ed he'll make a full recovery. The mate told me until I run him next season I wont actually know if hes after permanently damaging his muscles or not.I was told to give him lots of fat in his foos and cooking oil added in copious ammounts as this helps as does tomato puree. So all I can do is hope he pulls through and take good care of him.

dog will be ok wash out with luke warm salty water twice a day

its not the wound thats the bother mark, its the lactic acid build up.the wound is well on the way to being sorted.hibi scrub and anti biotic cream is working well.

Acidosis can be severe as you know. JMO but it best your vet percribes the right treatment for the dog as there are many under laying problems that can cause the lactic acid build up and the proper treatment will determine your dogs recovery and also the dogs bodies ability to to get rid of the acid. It can cause failure to organs in the dogs body with dire conciquences hope all comes good for you ATB
