What Do We Pay Road Tax For?

Recommended Posts

Not something I even bothered about till I got my first car last year (many years over due but at least I did it ).

I drive the kids to the next town for school and I have a map in my head for all the pot holes and sinking sewer grates. I could drive it blindfolded and avoid them - some of them are deep enough for paddling in on a rainy day.

Still think the TV license is dafter but road tax comes a close second.

Its now called a Road Fund Licence, not road tax! I think they changed it so you cant moan about it!!

Same here, the motorways are a disaster....

Saw a van and a jab pulled off the road up near Ballinluig the other week, both with mshed up tyres and rims....there was a sinkhole in the middle of the A9 about 2ft across!

happened to the bloke down my road on his way to market he had to empty half his van before he could jack it up not much fun at half 3 of a morning -- i carry that tyre weld shit in my van just in case ...

All ye feckers whinging aboot b*****d pot holes, shite roads and all the other stuff that never gets sorted! What have ye done aboot it? Feck all? Well now is the time to report it to your moneygrabbing swine of a council and get it fixed!

Use fixmystreet. http://www.fixmystreet.com/ and get potholes, sunken grids and shite road surfaces reported to your local council! It does work! I cycle quite a lot and ride motorbikes so b*****d pot holes and shite road surfaces are something I am looking out for every day.

They do come and fill the potholes, resurface the roads and patch up around grids if you let them know there is a problem most of the time. If it doesn't get fixed, fixmystreet email you a reminder after 4 weeks. SO REPORT IT AGAIN, til it does get sorted.

It also stops councils not paying out to people with cycles, motorbikes and cars damaged by potholes if they can claim they didn't know about it. So make them know about it, be liable for it and fix it. They have a statutory obligation to fix potholes and keep the roads in better than 3rd world condition. They get f***ing hundreds of billions of pounds between em a year. The money is there to sort out the roads, if only people will force the councils to do what they are supposed to be doing.

Rant over. :tongue2:
