lukey 1,621
bought a cheap tablet of ebay from a uk supplier, 7" screen android iirc paid £50 come in pink as it was for me little girl and to be fair its amazing value, she never puts it down , all software free intead of being tied to apple, memory can be expanded via cards etc cracking value and ideal for a kid , we bought the lad an expensive one last year and he sat on it and fooked it lol I was a little dubious when we ordered it well in advance of xmas just in case it was crap, but fair play its cracking bit of kit, worth considering for sure Cheers for that mate, I did look at all options and got it down to the sam gal and ipad mini. My iPad also has a lot of learning apps aswell not just game etc! If you know how to do it u can get free music and DVDs for them no problem!
Malt 379
Well mate, if you've got your heart set on a choice between them both and won't consider another, I'd go for the Galaxy due to the increased connectivity of it, google play store and option to increase the memory via sd card.. lukey 1,621
I got my son an android for his 9th birthday. No way could I - or would I - pay for an ipad. I got him a 7" Quantum android tablet, cost me £74. He loves it I've locked it up so he can't go on line or to the play store without me there. Put movies and music in it as well. Makes him happy and keeps him occupied when I won't let him turn the tv on (which is 90% of the time) or it's pissing down rain outside. He doesn't need an all singing and dancing one anyway. One downside is a bit of a short battery life but that's not a big deal 'cause he's only allowed a certain amount of time on it anyway. Besides they all have ipads in class at their school now. Lucky sh!ts lol I don't like any tablet tbh I still use the laptop can't see past it but the games are cool for kids ect plus its just a cool thing to get them, I do like the ipad mini to look at n the feel of it but its the whole being tied to apple thing I don't get. Think itl have to be another samsung. Ps, my 2year old is cracking with the tablets using them also the iphones in and about them looking at pics and putting music on lol its crazy
lurchergrrl 1,441
Kids get a kick out of them. But I wouldn't spend a shed load on one for young kids - they're clumsy things . Androids are pretty good and the one I got does come in a bigger screen for a decent price, I'm just on a very tight budget. His runs flash player etc. When he opened that on his birthday he was so damn happy and I was instantly Mum of the Year so totally worth what I paid lol

johnny boy68 11,726
J, my wee boy dose kick boxin 2hours on a friday boxing n mma on a sat 2 hours street dance 2 hours on a sat after that and boxing 2hours on a wed, and swimming on a sunday morning. take him to the pitch atleast twice a week also. I like to buy him good things is that ok or what would you rather I got him??? Didn't mean it to sound like he dosen't get out to play and stuff luke, it just dosen't sit right with me that a 7 yr old has the latest tablet /phone etc. I just think its extravagant for a 7 yr old thats all............I see parents buying their kids stuff just for the kudos themselves rather the practicality of something, not saying you are mind lukey. @paid.........yes I think a 3 year old getting a ipad is wrong but its up to any parent to buy or give their kids what they want, whether its right or wrong for them. Like I said its just my opinion thats all.

Like I said its just my oponion thats all. My kids ask for a phone because other kids have them. Not going to happen. They don't have an xbox or PS3 or any of that carry on either. His main Crimbo pressies were a catapult and a swiss army knife I got my son the tablet for his birthday mostly because his DS is dying a death and he's had it for a couple of years. Rather than replace it I got him something a bit special- not flash, latest, most expensive, guilt gift .... just affordable and interesting and will get used well so value for money. The kudos were an added bonus

I can understand High School kids having homework that they need the internet for but never a 7 yr old, I'm quite surprised by that.

My lad as just turned 6 and my daughter is 7 in a few weeks but they've never came home with any homework they need a computer for let alone going on the www. How do children who's parents don't have computers manage then?

I understand that but at that age shouldn't kids be learning the basics like reading, writing and arithmatic? Kids are in school until they're 18 now so plenty of time imo to learn about computers and such.
