Bsa Scope, Any Good?

Recommended Posts

After struggling to keep a zero on my NS mountmaster I'm looking to replace my scope with something sturdier. Has anyone any experience of BSA scopes? A shop near me has one on sale it's a SWF (side wheel focus) 8-32x44 non AO.

How sturdy are they? would it be ok on a strong springer? any help appreciated as I don't want to waste my money! or would I be better with a Hawke SR12?

cheers,

Jim

I had a bsa scope it fell apart on a bsa lightning [i think it was an BSA essential ] I did like the scope up untill that point .I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing ,it was easy to set the scope up the eye relief was variable ,with your eye close to the scope or away from the scope you could still get a good picture .on most scopes I have used your eye has to be a one exact distance from the ocular lens.So a bsa scope ????? if it is cheap I would give one a go again there is a bit of shock from the spring ,with a bsa lightning.BUT someone may and will know better than me .

I have this scope on one of my springers very solid build quality you can use chairgun with the generic mildot setting and the glass and build quality is far better than my mtc mamba. Bsa make some great scopes Tony Archer HFT champion uses a Bsa contender and in Ft the Bsa platinum is very popular

They're very good scopes, I've found. I would warn you about getting one with such high magnification though, I never really use above 6x mag and do all standing shots on 4.5, but that's just perferance.
All in all, they're great scopes (make sure you accompnay it with some high quality, double screw mounts though) :)

I think you should go with the Hawke, the quality for the price is great.

Atb.

I would say go for a high end BSA over a hawke any day. Quality is similar, but overall better on BSA and hawke scopes suffer hugely from parralax error -ditching my Panoram improved my accuracy hugely because of that.
