WILF 47,547
Back on the Fells this morning and only got back at 4pm so over 5 hours of huffing and puffing...had the pups Boots & Fife,Ruby the Pom and also took Swift & Don for a trek,it's Don's birthday today he is now a four year old...sun was out but again the wind was bitter cold..on my way back I bumped into an old farmer who was feeding his livestock...I asked him if wanted a hand to lift the feed out of his Landrover and he said no then he said he didn't want to see me up there again!...I told him i was on a public footpath at the time and I said you'll be giving these two behind me some earache to then will you as a couple were a couple of hundred yards behind me?..he then looked at the dogs and said "well it's them"...I said is it because their lurchers? He then started patting me on the back and kept saying " I won't be seeing you up here again will I"...I had the dogs on their leads on a footpath which he said it wasnt ...it was just because they were lurchers I'd say?...I'll be back tomorrow to say "how do"...he was polite enough and had no malice in his tone so I'll just keep away from the paths now lol and go where no vehicle can go lol.. It's funny up your way with lurchers mate, everyone knows what they are......not so bad down here, most folk ain't got a clue and most of the old bill are to busy with wog muggers ! Lol lol The farmers and keepers are pretty hard on you but then again they get a lot of shit from arseholes down here, one local farmer lost £250'000 worth of kit the other year off his farm so it's hardly surprising he is no fan of lads wandering his land. Other than that, no one bats an eyelid. Quote Link to post
running addiction 207
Quality pics again fuji that black and ran pup is an absolute belter well they all look in top order to be fair, you can't beat getting the pups out on that type of land benefits them no end Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,327
WILF like you say lurchers are real popular up here, infact I reckon here and the North East could have the highest population of them?..but over the years all the local thiefs realised that owning a Lurcher gave them a reason to be seen out after dark...lamping! Nowadays it may not be as easy to do but back in the 80's and 90's it was the thing to do..throw a Lurcher in the motor then out into the countryside and stealing quads, vehicles, diesel etc: when one or two were caught and said they were just lamping it tarred the brush for those of us who just wanted to go out after dark and run the dogs..I think the farmers are all close knit with attending cattle auctions etc and the word spread fast about lads with lurchers and I just don't think they have ever forgot or even put it to the back of their minds lol..and for those farmers who have been victims of theft well can you really blame them for being a bit touchy?...
