if you are going to use a lead on your fert make sure you use a harness and that it fits snugly and that its good quality

i think the collar thing applies to pet ferts as i have never seen a worker with one the only collar i have seen on a working ferts is a i expect you could attach a id tag to this if you wanted to but its rare for people to lose ferrets while working them its more often that they escape.

my Nice's walk my ferts and its more of a case the fert will follow you but will explore along the way so it takes a long time to go anywhere

i personally don't like the idea of collars as they can get hooked on things but this is my just opinion

I have found that leaving a collar or harness on them in a hutch starts to rubb and go red under the fur.

I wouldnt put ID tags on them either, to much crap for them to be carrying around, just let them be ferrets :victory:

I think walking ferrets is abit pointless to be honest, I sometimes take them out when my young cousins come round just to keep them amused. Most the time they just slither around in leaves and bushes etc. Best way to keep them tired and in good nick is to take them ferreting for a full day, mine sleep for about 2 days solid after a long day out!

Personally i dont like collars they can be killers, a ferret who is left with a collar on unatended can risk climbing & getting the collar caught in something & maybe found dead, i dont like to see cats with collars on either for the same reason,

I dont walk my ferrets as there are far to many dogs around this place & obvioulsy they dont all behave well round ferrets i have seeen ferrets killed by dogs at shows , its a joint responsibility thing at the end of the day , just my opinion of course

Get them microchipped rather than use a collar & id tag

Ive got collars for mine with very small ID tags on, They ONLY wear them if they are in the garden and this is only due to a big shock I got a few weeks back when one of them escaped! Luckily I found her about 200 yards down the road! They appear to be getting used to wearing collars so hopefully, come the season it wont be a great shock to them when they get their locator collars on :D I dont think it would be a good idea to leave them on all the time though  Im sure their neck fur would rub.
