kranky 507
No one on this thread that hunts can take the moral high ground or call it disgusting etc. There's plenty of people who think you're barbaric every time your dog picks up a bunny and it screams in fear and pain. Just because it's given fair law or in an open field makes not one bit of difference to these people. Only make a judgement on something when you fully understand it or are aware of all the facts. That boar is in fine condition and is, at no point unduly harried by the dogs. There are a couple of people on this thread who clearly know nothing about boar hunting or the capabilities of a terrier! Patts, Jagds and various other types of terrier are used to hunt boar, all over the world and they do extremely well. Look at the dogs that make up some of the French Sanglier packs, there's not a Dogo in sight! That's the problem with fieldsports in this country, the failure to unite, everyone looking after their own discipline and dismissing another mans sport. Fox hunting suffered as shooters stepped back and denounced those involved with it. I know a lot of people on here are hobby hunters and that's fine, but sometimes those with the least knowledge seem to be the most outspoken. Looking at a video of sporting practices from another country and culture and calling them cruel and unsporting is narrow minded at best. Young Dogos often show no signs of the courage they display as adults. 4 Quote Link to post

Giro 2,648
They were not worth a carrot.. Over matched, the little dog was game and had plenty guts about him. Its not my thing either but to be fair, folk dont like it thats fine. Mind thats how all the hunting act malarky came to fold. People belive what we once lawfully done was cruel, Each to there own. To compare that vid to snapping a rabbits legs, there is no comparison. Different countries have different methods and opinions to whats right and wrong.. Slightly off topic.. That Vid produced a link to pits fighting... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=WibLjDcOPjo&NR=1 What country is that?? Russia ?? Thats some turn out, looks like a national sport there.. CorkyJohn 808
I make no distinction between this and the Irish dog trials Would prefer it if it was in the field but end of the day nobody sees a problem with the old game trials so why this?? That terrier was a good 'un straight in and fuuck the consequences, everytime the terrier lads put their wee warriors in the ground they risk death, we all know it. So what is the difference just because it latches onto a pigs knackers? You can't compare that video with earthwork, if you did its the equivalent of dropping several terriers to ground. Single handed is, or should be the aim. Those dogos are catch dogs & they bottled it until they had enough back up Quote Link to post

rabbitcatcher 1 287
Pointless stupid f*****g cruelty, lucky the Patt wasn`t killed outright. Perhaps the dickheads behind the fence should join in. Couldn`t give a f**k if it`s legal, accepted whatever,, penned in animals effectively being "baited" by multiple dogs is a joke. They should be trained on a freerunning animal, Bit like breaking a rabbits leg to train the pup. Totally agree Well said There yeh are !! Quote Link to post
kranky 507
How long will this rumble on with a load of expert opinion before one of the experts realises that it's not a Pat and it's a Jagd?? Who breaks, or knows anyone that breaks, a rabbits leg to train a pup? My Russell pup can catch rabbits. If your dog needs that much help then it needs a pet home. Those sort of claims are usually only made by loons like Heather Mills.............................Mind you, she's got issues with legs so you can't blame her really. Quote Link to post
neems 2,406
How many people criticising this are experienced in hunting dangerous game with dogs? Quote Link to post
