I've had my 90 for 3 years now and it has cost me £40 to get through 3 MOT's, never let me down. As far as leaking goes i was always told if you want a land rover that doesn't leak get a soft top. T

one would suit you.

A lot of the 4x4's that come off roading near me seem to be the defender and discovery ones, although there are a few different types of vehicles that turn up

My works van is a Defender 90. I got it the same time as 3 of my work mates had one. They are 7 years old now and all of them have had new gear boxes, one of them has had 2. The window leaks, the door does not fit properly at the bottom and the new shape Defender is only good for midgets to drive. They are good off road, but we get them stuck regularly. (Broke an Half shaft a few weeks back) They will be discontinued soon because of Euro regs. Unfortunatly for us, no other vehicle has the payload of an Defender, so we don't have a choice which 4x4 we get. If i did, i'd have an Hilux.

Has any one got any experiance with the ex MoD ones? They seem fairly decent for the price of em, but the only problem is they could have had a bit of hammer i guess.

But they would have been serviced regularly.

Ive thought of getting one for a while now as abit of a project. Might get one over summer and have a tinker about with it. Ive never realy done much mechanical stuff before but im sure ill manage with it. Cant be much ahrder than meccano eh? haha

There is an MOD or associated website that sells all the landies and other vehicles.

They also advertise in Landrover Owner magazine.

It's called www.mod-sales.com

Yer thats where ive been looking. Looks like you can get something half decent for not much over 3 grand.
