Got a call from my old football manager last night " do you fancy a game Saturday "... I didn't think twice.... So I'll be walking like I've shit myself Monday, Tuesday and probably Wednesday next week lol.. Apart from a couple of vets games I've not played for a couple of seasons, can't wait to be honest... I'm only 36 so I reckon I've got 4 or 5 seasons left lol... Any of you older lads still playing??

Fitness wise id be fine but i play football like virgins f**k !......All the energy and passion in the world but no technique or skill whatsoever...............only ever played shirts and skins in the park no c**t would trust me in a proper match :icon_redface: ....my tackling technique is to run in like a lunatic snarling and screaming.......and just hope the other player bottles it  .............

Best of luck to you mate if you had it before it,ll come back in no time....fitness you can get back over time......skill and ability you either have or you dont.

Played kicky ball at school, someone saw my 'talent' and got me into rugby...played from 10 till 34......body was gone by then......think the years of TaeKwon-Do and rugby training together fekked me up good and proper.......ankles, knee, hip, back (right bad), thumb, wrist, shoulder...lost hearing in one ear, one nostril blocked by deviated septum, got my septum stiched back on once, many many scars etc etc and I would give my right knacker to get out and play/fight again......miss it badly.

If you can hack it, keep going!!!! Good man!!

I was still playing non vets upto 40 mate, in the lower divisions its a piece of piss......you will suffer mind you! Lol lol

After 2 seasons out, don't be too hard on yourself, your head will know what it wants to do, but you will have the touch of a rapist and the old body will be protesting !! Lol

Enjoy !

Cheers lads, I know exactly what my touch will be like lol... I play in midfield and a lot of my game was because I was fit, I trained or played pretty much everyday as a youngster, boxing, 5 a side, football training and sat and sun games, it's funny how long your natural fitness stays with you.. .. But time catches up and you just can't sustain the fitness....

I'm playing for the 2nds on Sat Wilf, it's the club I finished up with and it's one of the nicest places I've played, real good lads and a nice little club house where anything goes lol... It'll be a good craic if nothing else....

That's the main job mate, the lads round you have to be OK when you get older, can't be tolerating any pricks......sounds like you are buzzing, I know I would be.

I'm excited for you mate!! I started in left midfield, broke my foot, put on a bit weight and couldn't shift it, was still powering down that side, then broke my other foot and put on more weight, again unable to shift it so moved to being a lazy striker, that's where I played last, played two games as a trialist, total playing time 128 minutes 4 goals, then with work commitments I couldn't make every training session and just fizzled out. Wish I was still playing, atb with playing

Oi !! ......we will have a little less of this " lazy centre forward" nonsense :)...decent centre forwards do as much damage running off the ball as with it ;) ....mind you, I never had the engine room for mid field, or the range of skills............then you play with an older team who don't want to step over the half way line !!.......and it's " here's the ball, now beat 4 defenders and score" !!! Lol lol lol

I like to play off the centre halts shoulder, put the defender exactly where I want them, hated left mid, run down that wing, put a ball in, then the manager screaming, "get your breather back there!" and have to sprint back up the park to put a foot in. Much prefer the sensible shall we say striker option, I've played 11's 5's & 7's with the same lad since primary school and he knows exactly what im going to do and when I'm going to do it, helps to have someone who knows your gameplay.

To true mate, me and my old strike partner scored 86 between us in our first season playing together....we just clicked and knew each others game.

What I like is all the lads who can score for fun from 30 yards in the warm up, but when the whistle blows they couldn't hit a cows arse with a shovel but slag you for every miss.........it's easy when you ain't got a keeper and two giant defenders flying at you ! Lol lol

I also never liked anyone else to,take a pen or free kicks.....don't know why, but mid field players always wanted to " deliver" a direct free kick rather than shoot

Never back out a tackle or you'll end up getting hurt!! Lost count how many times I went in 50/50 and the ball just didn't move!! remember playing against this big lump and I was winning absolutely f**k all, getting booted up and down the park, half time talk manager giving me pelters, sort it out he said, so, asked for some heat rub, big scoop out, manager asks if I was ok, "aye sound" onto park, first long ball, up for header and I rubbed it in the big c**ts eye! sorted boss!
