B&Q ant powder has the same mite killing ingrediant and is a bit cheaper than the johnsons mite powder is,but have never used it myself but plenty of lads on some of the bird forums use it with no bother and if i ever get mite i will give it a try as well.

Better spraying the cages every now and again mate, prevention, cure and awe that, especially for red spider, I used to spray the insides of the budgie nest boxes as well just before the birds were ready to start laying, I,ll be doing the same with nest pans

i agree gnipper, its in some sort of aerosol now. But luckily for me, i still have some of the meat, mix it yourself stuff, 1 bottle to 2 galls of water. But its my last bottle.

Jokes aside tho, i used that diatomaceous earth for a while now, under the dogs and in the poultry houses, touch wood, no bother at al, but wait till the warm weather comes for the chickens and sheds. but a 100% natural, 24/7 product that kilss mechanical dandruff is the way forward in my opinion, and it works.

benzol benzoate diluted 50/50 with water works well in a spray bottle do all the nooks, cracks and crannys, other than that as fireman says ant powder for the birds. steam also works wonders on nest pans/box`s etc.
