I have an Hw100 in .22 and have notices that it has started to make a kind of twanging noise when fired, Never noticed this noise before  any ideas guys on how i can get it back to being as quiet as it used to be.

One guy has told me its got something to do with the beveled washers !!!! :hmm:

Cheers

Mine makes a bit more noise than it did at first but I have a quieter gun so Im wondering if its just in my head.

Then I realised its pushing more air out every shot as its .177 and my others are .22

If its shooting straight mate dont wory about it most pcps have a bit of chime to em.

Just make sure everything is tight all the mounts stock screws anything you can see and see if it makes a difference.

It maybe the fact that the grease they put in the hammer mech is known for breaking down and the power increasing so keep an eye on the power.

Yes, It is your hammer springs grease just starting to break down, leave it alone as HW tend to over grease anyway. There is nothing wrong with your rifle my friend. As far as the belville spring is concerned, It is under immense pressure and does not move or twang ! When the rifle is fired you may experiance a sine wave effect, this is the shuttle (hammer) which is semi free floating, this can be interpreted sometimes as a noise, twang, as sometimes it can resonate in the trigger system itself depending on the weathers temp, cold means tighter components. But dont forget, your ear is very close to the action and probably nothing and nobody else would hear it. it is normal, dont worry.
