i guess i'm responding for the "dog walkers" sort of. I don't walk other people's dogs or anything. Here there is no fox or rat control problem. we're completely encircled by forest so going out for a walk or hike or bike or drive or boat or canoe really is the only way to get out. I guess we're just oportunistic about it eh? like I said no animal control problem we just do it for s**ts and giggles. good luck to the owners out there working their terriers whether necessary or not. cheers :drink:

So what is the deal with terriers and rabbits? Im getting mixed messages from reading this forum. I have two russels and I like to let them go when exercising them. The best place near me is a massive burrows network where they run nuts and have a great time tire themselves out and love it. There obviously down rabbit holes doing presumably what they like doing.(Killing rabbits?) Sometimes I have to wait a while ( sometimes an hour ) for the small bitch as she is tiny and must go down deep. she makes a lot of noise down there

The dog is much bigger and while he sniffs around for ages he always come to me fairly well.

Is this right or wrong to let them behave like this. What is normal jack russel behavior? and should it be encouraged or not.

Rabbits! Want to catch rabbits get a gun or lurcher, all you idiots. show heads, bull shi**ers, rosette hunters make me sick, your punney useless so called terriers are sh*t, I ve seen ferrets stronger, get off the site and stop boaring the arse off ever one, this is for working terriers, work means fox control, yes we may rat terriers as opups or even as control, rabbiting does not even come in to the equation, heres a saying all you show heads can start useing at the shows, another saying you have picked up to add to your vocabularly of sayings when standing at a show ring !I dont work my terrier to rabbit in case he starts to false mark" now the rest of the numb c**ts will really think you are genuine!

Shoot the lot of them (owners in all)

What a F***cking prize KNOB. :duh:

I have a rough coated Russell, who will not go to ground, but will do all I ask of him, his courage and tenacity are second to none and his intelligence is equal to or perhaps greater than yours you Fecking half-wit. :bye:

If your terriers are for general mooching & bushing on top then thats fine , If your having problems with then disappearing to ground in a certian area then keep them away if your not prepared to dig them out or deal with the consequences that could result in your dogs going to "other" quarry.............If you value your terriers then its a matter of time before you loose them in rabbity areas..........Just use some common sense....... :whistling:

I also laugh at the "macho" rabbiters need f*****g shooting bollocks............As you get older you realise that the dog game in general is horses for courses , I am into digging terriers but started off bushing for rabbits & had hours of great sport doing so , I wouldnt slate people who view rabbiting with terriers as thier sport as long as they dont try to palm off their dogs as true working dogs in the digging sense of the word , Sure nowadays a bushing terrier isnt for me & obviously I keep my terriers as far away from rabbits as humanley possible but like everything there is a place for the rabbiting terrier & as long as the people who work them understand the difference between the different types of "working" terrier then thats fine......

Another thing , I have a digging bitch who is without question the best terrier I have owned , Find anywhere & stay until dug to.............simple & efficient..........I have dug with her with various lads all over the place & she has never let me down......Here's the thing......I had her as a young dog who was used for bushing etc but was given to me because she kept going to other quarry & the owner was sick of getting her out of earths he didnt want her in...!!!!..............To this day if she ends up in an earth that doesnt have anything else at home she can be a nuicance with rabbits , If I adopted the "macho" maybe I should have pts.............. ............ If any of the tough fuckers on here saw her work they'd see why that would never be an option , I live with this failing to her general qualities as in my opinion it is a minor problem when weighed up against her other attributes..................The thing is Im honest about this particular shortcoming & if alot of other dogmen were totally honest about their dogs there would be alot less f*****g bullshit in the world of working dogs............ :whistling:
