there all differnt mate, get 6 pups from same litter, and some will start quicker than others. All my dogs have wanted to run+ catch at 6 months old. My pup now Buck 1x gsd x grey, had 3 rabbits in the lamp the other night, ive put the post up, he only 7 months old sunday gone. But ive had him out from 9 weeks old, just watching+ learning his field craft. He as seen lots of rabbits caught from Bryn my 1x collie x grey,so you just gage it when you think he (could) catch a rabbit. He was showing he wanted to run 1 from about 5 months old, but just held him back till he was just over 6 months old, and it was right, had (4) now very happy so far. .!!

Personaly my arse would be nipping a bit if it was mine...i am onto my 5th lurcher and i have been around many of my mates bringing pup's on and i have never seen what is mentioned happen..quite the opposite realy and all the pup's i have brought on and been around have had to be held back at a early age..if the pup has seen plenty over the past several monthes it should be pulling your mates arm of..and at 9mth old it should be nailing a few easy one's that is if it's not going to be a 29in brute..
